Software Announcing: Auganizer 2. Advanced Plug-in Management for the Professional Power User.

Announcing Auganizer 2 - Advanced Plug-in Management for the Professional Power User.

We’re really pleased and excited to announce the imminent arrival of Auganizer 2. We've got some great new features for the power user that we think you’re really going to love.

First of all, we’re of course aware Apple has included some plugin management with Logic 10.1 (finally!) and if we helped give them that kick they needed after 10 years then great. However, we think this basic feature set supplements what Auganizer has on offer rather than replaces it. We realise that for some, a basic folder structure is all they need, but for many Logic’s built in Channel EQ is all they need too. For those of us that want full advanced plug in management we hope to offer that and more.

First of all Auganizer 2 simplifies the process over our original version. We no longer touch, edit or move your Audio Units. There is no unlocking, or moving to system folder - simply open and edit. We think this will be a welcome change for current users. To achieve this method we’ve moved into using more robust and stable behind the scenes tools including our own virtual wrapper and working directly with the DAW’s themselves. Speaking of which Auganizer 2 will interface DIRECTLY with the new plugin-in menu in Logic 10.1. You’ll be able to create as many sub folders as you want if running Logic 10.1 and manage them all easily, quickly and beautifully in Auganizer. Already got your plugins organised how you want? We’ll have an option to transfer them move to Logic’s new built in menu at the press of a button.

One of the features we’re most excited about is our new “Duplication” feature. At first this might not sound terribly interesting, after all Logic 10.1 already allows you to put the same plugin in multiple folders for organisation purposes, however Auganizer's "Duplication" lets you RUN the same plugin in multiple times. Here are some real world use examples.

Reaktor. We’re big fans of what Native Instruments do and we love their latest ensembles Polyplex, Kontour, Molekular and Rounds. However, we often forget we own these synths when they’re not on view in our plugin list. Step up “Duplication”. In Auganizer you can duplicate Reaktor and rename it “Rounds” (For instance), organise it into your top level and sub level folder. Now when you open Logic you’ll have a new plugin called “Rounds” - effectively a new seperate instance of Reaktor. Open it, open Rounds and in Logic “save as default”. Now every time you open “Rounds” you get….Rounds! As if it was a native Audio Unit to start with.

Do this with any or all Reaktor ensembles you like, instruments or effects and sort them into menus for quick workflow. There are no limits. You could even do it with Kontakt, auto load a specific well used sound bank, name it, save it as default and have it appear as if its an Audio Unit. Streamlining composing, having all those creative tools in one place at your disposal in one menu - for me personally, often remembering what sounds I have that are NOT in my plugin menu is an additional difficultly during the creative process.

How about when using items using as Blue Cats Digital Patchbay. In this instance you could load up your dream channel strip, save it as a default, name it how you want, and it’ll become a native Audio Unit in your plugin list. Or Slate Digital’s VMR. We absolutely love what Slate do and the concept of VMR, however sometimes we’d like to go to EQ and select the name of the Slate EQ’s, and the same for the fantastic compressors. Again, duplicate VMR and name it for each VMR plugin, saving each to load as default. Especially useful for when Slate launch the up coming VCC 2 which will work within VMR if users want to continue to load it the traditional way.

Nebula user’s - load up specific libraries with custom skins and save them as if they were native AU’s again. Create the Alex B Console Desk “native AU plugin. Have any of Nebula’s libraries named as native plugins. The options are endless.

Also in version 2, we’ll be including default rename files you can chose to import to save time. We have almost every commercial plugin released and as such we figured it made sense to categorise them for you. You can import this into Auganizer and use it as a starting point, or as is. The choice is yours.

Notes. Auganizer 2 will include a notes section for each plugin where you can keep track of anything you want to note about this particular plugin. Even more usefully, we’ll pre-populate it with information about each of your plugins where available. What it is, what it does, what it emulates etc. Couple this with our unique GUI visual in the cover flow section and you’ll have all the information you need about those lesser used plugins to put them in the correct category without having to leave the app at all to check what “plugin X” actually is.

Auganizer 2 will also introduce new and deeper integration with other Audio Unit hosts, so your renames get parity across multiple DAW’s. You’ll also be able to launch Auganizer directly from within each DAW’s Services menu.

Don’t forget, Auganizer is the only solution for using folders and sub folders in any version of Logic prior to 10.1, whats more its the ONLY option to actually rename the plugins. We often do this to rename some unlicensed emulations of plugins as to what they actually are. Now we can reach for all our LA-2A options in one folder and chose the emulation we like best, or easily compare and swap between them.

On top of this Auganizer will of course continue to offer full organisation for users of Logic 7, 8, 9 and X, as well as OSX version 10.6 to 10.10. Auganizer 2 also cleans up and enhances the UI. Multiple selecting and editing is quicker and easier, and there are many other improvements to make editing faster and easier, as well as a Yosemite facelift. There are hundreds of minor enhancements under the hood based on your feedback to make the job of categorising your plugins quicker and easy and more professional.

All of this and much much more in Auganizer 2, whats more it will be a FREE upgrade for all current users of Auganizer. We’ll make a beta available for current users shortly and the full release will be in the Spring. Auganizer 2 will be the golden standard in plugin management for the professional power user who demands the most from their studio. These are just SOME of the features in Auganizer 2 that aim to make your life easier and more productive, we’ll be announcing more over the coming weeks.

Auganizer 2 Announced Features.
  • Duplicate and rename plugins multiple times to allow “native AU” of Reaktor ensembles, Kontakt instruments, VMR, Nebula, Patchbays or any other reason you can think to run multiple separate Audio Units of the same host. The limit is your imagination and desire.
  • Full integration with Logic X 10.1’s new plugin menu. Migrate your already created settings over from Auganizer 1 into this new menu to save time. Manage as many sub-folders as you want in our easy to use familiar OSX like work flow. Much easier to manage multiple folders.
  • Plugin notes, including pre-populated information about your plugin library, what it does, what it emulates and anything you wish you add or change. Combined with our plugin GUI it helps to categorise plugins without having to leave the app or check what it is what. Essential for large libraries.
  • Full compatibility with multiple DAWs, Logic 7,8,9 and X and OSX 10.6-10.10.
  • Easier editing of multiple plugins.
  • Updated UI with Yosemite features.
  • Full management of Logic 7, 8 and 9 user presets
  • Plus much much more!

Very good news, Can't wait :-)

Hopefully i'll be able to use it properly with Logic 9 on Snow Leo 10.6.8 ! Cuz i decided to support you instead of asking for the refund.. (yeah, it was completely unusable for me.. unfortunately)

Fingers crossed ! I really need this app to work and easy up my workflow.

Hi jsblack, thanks for the support. What do you mean by "completely unusable"? The only problem we know of with Logic 9 is the copying of user presets. Unfortunately Logic 9 doesn't respect a typical OSX framework so we're going to build in a button to copy these for us. Legacy support is the most difficult aspect of Auganizer really, but perhaps our most important feature. You can of course just copy the presets manually fairly easily into the new folder locations for now. Everything else works fine in Logic 9 as is - any problems please e-mail us [email protected]

It'll be on the list of new supported DAW's in version 2 for as many features as we can force it to support.

You can actually make subfolders in the built in organizer as well + it's much nicer not having to reboot Logic every time you make a change. So even though I bought Auganizer I will not be using it.

You can, but 1. Its not going to be as easy as in Auganizer with our full menu system 2. If you have many plugins you can't see what they are in the Logic plugin organizer.

You don't have to reboot Logic every time you make a change in either program...You shouldn't need to leave Auganizer until you're done. Both applications force a full refresh of the core audio engine in Logic to see the changes though.

Pro Tools doesn't use Audio Units.

We may look into AAX management in the future though and apply the Auganizer 2 features to it.

Look forward to checking this out, Logic Pro X 10.1 Plugin Manager is okay but it does lack finesse.

Pro Tools can use AU plugins (and VST), by using the wrapper plugin from DDMF called "Metaplugin".

I think there is a wrapper plugin from Blue Cat, also.

Sure, although in this case the wrapper is the host reading the Audio Unit names rather than Pro Tools, so we'd have to see how the wrapper works and provides a menu to search for plugins.

A good video showing the benefits of this would be a great way to get it

I'm in - I have always hated trying to remember who makes each of my plugins when mixing - a real flow killer - hoping for good things from Auganizer

According to a comment on their FB they say hopefully end of August for public beta.

Maybe posting about it in January wasn't such a hot idea, talk about delays.
