Let's hope about the improvements. Also I bought PT10 with the student program and got the PT11 for free, I assume I will get also PT12 at no cost, true?

I hope they added a freeze function....Not sure that would work in a HDX system though......

No offense but I am so friggin tired of avid and the inequities of its pricing crap !

No different to offline bounce, in the sense that it should also work on HDX (by using the native plugin instead).

Everything I need to compose, record, edit and mix? So they fixed the record input bug which still remains in PT10? And the delay compensation issue which remains in both 10 and 11? That's great news! Now they'll be able to go back and fix PT11, too, since it's still current. Exciting times.

(oh... they're *not* going to do that? huh, that seems odd)

Anyone know how much the new subscription cost?

Yep 11 sucked, I bought it and couldn't get it to work stable so back to cubase I went.

People still use Pro Tools?

Naaaah. 'Course not.

I've been using PT 11 exclusively since October 2013 with very few issues. But, I do only live recording of symphony and opera performances and do not use VIs or do music composing and overdubbing with low to zero latency.

I've been on PT11 since around the same time. Run it on Mavericks with no issues, and I do rock and pop production mostly. Big sessions, lots of overdubs. Mixing with a lot of outboard and a lot of plugins.

All I need is VCC and I'm set. It sucks that a cool, fairly useful plugin I use is the straw that breaks my 64 bit back

Hopefully this is true. Work on 11 has seemed to grind to a halt over the past several months.

I think they just released an update a few days ago, fyi. 11.3.

I really can't understand why these companies (Avid, but not only them of course..Apple and other brands comes to mind) have to come up with new crap every year.. ???

What I mean is PREPARE/BUILD your product with care and then you could announce it and eventually sell it...when it's READY and works as it's supposed to do..not before!

I don' t understand the run to the new version.. why?? If you have to put out a PT12 after this short period time after the previous one..it means something is consistently wrong with the previous one...which means that you should have spent more time doing YOUR homework and developing your product.

Believe it or not I do like protools (or maybe its diffusion, since I often work in different studios around the world), but I'm fed up with this new releases craziness.
Make something STABLE that will LAST for some time..stop this BS please.

It's hard to say this without it being taken the wrong way, but I'm thinking they need to continually sell stuff to make money to stay in business. Surely it's no more complicated than that. Development can never stop or so does the money.

Pro Tools is still ubiquitous in the studio game which of course is a blessing to Avid, but they still need to find ways to either get new people to buy it or get existing customers to upgrade it - on an ongoing basis. It's a bloody tough gig!

Exactly correct.

Avid staff have their monthly bills to pay same as everyone else. All companies be it washing powder to TV's to computers to DAW's offer a MK2 better than last years MK1.

Even if just teach guitar you need your student to return the following week.

The only way around this would be a subscription model, that meant you bought the software and then payed (say) $50 per month to have it de-bugged and maintained with the latest OS's, plugins etc.

I have always thought, never begrudge someone making a living and then people won't begrudge you making a living.

I use Cubase as it happens and I'm more than happy to pay a sensible/ proportionate amount of money per month/year to keep using it and earning money with it!

I understand that.. Is good to have development, but should be reasonable.

but if you build/make something that WORKS and it's competitive from a price/features/quality..guess what? People will buy it.. heh and will like it.. and will talk with other people about how great is XY product.

Every business, big or small is though. These companies should commit before begging for more $ with the development stratagem.

What about a company selling drums? Easy? I don't think so.. and they can't force their customers to upgrade..

FFS Avid. Just support VST and we'd all be happy.

Are you even a Logic user?
Logic had a gap for about 4 years between version 9 and 10.
And that upgrade was minimal at best. If only Apple did what you say it does way more people would've have been satisfied I think.
