Electronaut is clearly a very high level artisan.

A lot of these controls make me curious about how it works.

Looks like a Pultec and an old 610 module had a variable-mu baby ... nice!

Aesthetics are amazing, but the design philosophy is really a thing of beauty

Electronaut M97 – AES 2013 Preview |

Love the meter, so much thought going into this guy! THD+N measurements in the meter? Amazing!

Quote:
One major advantage to this technique is that, for the first time, it becomes possible to optimize the compressor’s distortion performance under heavy-limiting conditions, where it really matters.
Tube choices? Crazy!

Quote:
The M97 vari-mu stage is arranged as four quadrants, each consisting of three tube sockets: one 9-pin wired for 6386 tubes, and two 7-pin wired in triode-mode for 6BA6 and equivalent tubes. Each quadrant has a switch that configures the 7-pin sockets for either 6V or 12V filaments. This gives the user maximum flexibility and provides the choice of which tube type to use in each of the four sections, allowing a myriad of possible combinations.

At the risk of making this thread even more redundant, this thing seriously looks so cool.

the text on the website says it is a single channel unit.

i am proud owner of the electronaut preamp, a great piece of gear.
don´t know if anybody noticed -
but the preamp looks very similar to the world´s most famous vari-mu compressor in quite a few design aspects.

and now electronaut builds a vari-mu compressor that looks like...

nothing else.

looking forward to hear more news on this thing, though a single channel vari-mu is only the second vari-mu on my to buy list. but i work on my to-buy-list very fast.

greetz to the slutz, johannes

Wow!

This M97 is like a woman I once knew, she was so breathtaking that every guy I knew including myself was completely mesmerized at first glance and fell absolutely head over heals on the spot. Each guy, in his own mind, had-to-have her, if she was a witch or a bitch it didn't much matter, she was the ultimate prize. The M97 is like that.
