Cool. Anyone shot this out against IK Multimedia or PSP Noble EQ?

It's been favourably compared to other emulations e.g. the TubeTech (softube) PE 1C. Some people think the IK Pultec emulation has slightly more bass - this might be due to differences in the output transformer low frequency response (different examples of the genuine hardware, or re-makes have slightly different characteristics, so neither is necessarily better / right or wrong). There's a free demo so you can try it out (audio will fade out approx every 60 seconds) and there's a drum loop demo video on the website (follow the link on the product download page at: OverTone PTC-2A Download )

We also use DSP algorithms which allow the filters to correctly model the analogue response without the need for upsampling (with no loss of quality) which significantly reduces the CPU usage when compared to some emulations.

Software OverTone DSP Pultec EQ emulation updated

The OverTone PTC-2A Pultec EQ plugin has been updated.

This free update for existing users adds the following improvements / fixes.
  • Fixes Mac-VST GUI initialization issue apparent in some host applications, and demo splash screen preventing the editor window for becoming 'front and key' on first launch.
  • Input protection against spurious outputs from other plugins (improbably large values and NaNs).
  • Improved tube amplifier emulation 'warm-up' behaviour.
