Please try the following steps:

1 Regress to VVV 1.7.1
2 Open a new session in PT
3 create a mono track with any audio on it for testing
4 insert VVV 1.7.1 as a mono/stereo plugin
5 save and close

6 install VVV2.0.1
7 reopen the session just created

Result: do you see VVV on your track?

Thank you!

EDIT: It's happening for me 100%
EDIT 2: re-installing version 1.7.1 from 2.0.1 will delete VVV from your AAX plugin folder. Running the installer a second time will bring it back to version 1.7.1

Are you on an HDX system? I'm able to replicate this behavior here, but only on HDX; this doesn't happen on PT native. Let me confirm a fix and I'll post about that here.

I guess that's why they call it "beta"

Hey all,

Don Gunn and I have been doing some tests on our various PT rigs, and can confirm the issue baslotto reports on updating mono->stereo instances from VVV 1.7.1 to the 2.0.1 instance. So, for now, we recommend that PT users stay with 1.7.1. We'll leave the betas in user accounts, while we work on a solution that will be released in an upcoming new beta.

2.0.2 Beta in user accounts

We've uploaded the 2.0.2 VintageVerb beta into the user accounts of all VintageVerb license owners. The change since 2.0.1:
  • Fixed the issue where Pro Tools projects with mono->stereo instances of VVV 1.7.1 weren't opening up correctly.

That's the only change between 2.0.1 and 2.0.2. A fresher on the changes since the VintageVerb 1.7.1 release:
  • New reverb mode: Chaotic Neutral. This mode has been designed to be fairly transparent, with a natural decay of high frequencies. It uses the chaotic modulation of the other Chaotic modes, but its tone is, well, neutral. Try using short settings of Size for smaller drum rooms, and large Size settings for giant reverbs.
  • Pro Tools automation enhancements, including the "3-fingered salute."
  • VST3 version
  • Fix to bug that some people encountered in the Ambience mode

Please submit a support request (https://valhalladsp.com/support-request/) if you run into any issue with this beta. I've already built the 2.0.2 demo installers, and am working on a MailChimp announcement, so this should hopefully be the "official" update in a few days.

Only one thing which I've mentioned via email to ya Sean, on Windows while the default VST folders suggested by the installer are now more sane, you should first attempt to read them from the registry:

64-bit VST2: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VST\VSTPluginsPath
32-bit VST2: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\VST\VSTPluginsPath

Pretty please fix these in the installers!

Some other companies also store their own copy of this path so when you update or other company installers are run, it knows the correct VST path.

e.g. for Valhalla DSP plugins, I always install to;

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2\Valhalla DSP, LLC
and
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST2\Valhalla DSP, LLC

But each time I run any Valhalla DSP installer, I have to choose this directory again. It would be even worse if my default VST path was something other than Common Files\VST2.

This would be a really nice improvement to the installation experience.

Some examples of where other manufacturers store their VST paths:

Exponential Audio (per plugin):
VST2 64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ExponentialAudio\R2\VST64Install

Reveal Sound (per plugin)
VST2 64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RevealSound\Spire-1_1_x64\InstallDir
VST2 32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\RevealSound\Spire_1_1_x86\InstallDir

DMG Audio
VST2 64-bit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DMGAudio\InstallPaths\VST_64
VST2 32-bit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DMGAudio\InstallPaths\VST_32
VST3 64-bit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DMGAudio\InstallPaths\VST3_64
VST3 32-bit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DMGAudio\InstallPaths\VST3_32

Synapse Audio (per plugin)
VST2 32-bit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synapse Audio\DUNE 2\VstDir32
VST2 64-bit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synapse Audio\DUNE 2\VstDir64

and many more

ValhallaVintageVerb Officially Updated to version 2.0.2!

Hey folks,

We just officially updated ValhallaVintageVerb to 2.0.2. If you own VintageVerb, go ahead and log into your valhalladsp.com user account, and grab the latest installers!

The changes since 1.7.1:

- New reverb mode, Chaotic Neutral
- VST3 (in addition to VST 2.4/AAX/Audio Unit)
- Fix to Ambience "echoes" bug that a few people ran into.

I've written up a quick overview of the Chaotic Neutral mode on my blog (https://valhalladsp.com/2019/08/14/v...aotic-neutral/).

The idea behind Chaotic Neutral is to have a more "colorless" reverb, that still harkens back to vintage-style algorithms, but with a more neutral tonality. It is kinda sorta similar to some Alesis algorithms, but I'll be up front and admit that the design was tweaked in ways that were never done in the 1980s. The modulation is chaotic, but balanced, so it sounds more subtle than "seasick."

Hi Sean,

thanks a lot for another free update!

I just installed the update but I can´t chose the new mode. I can see 3 new presets in the Chaotic folder but if I chose one of them the mode is concert Hall.
The Plugin version also shows 1.7.1 though my plugin folder says 2.0.2

I installed the 32 bit windows version.

Installing the new Valhalla Delay update worked fine though.

Is there something wrong with the 32 Bit version?

Here for the gear
I just popped here to page 66 (of this thread) to say hi to everyone. I'm actually only as far as page 16, but wanted you to know that I'm reading this entire thread, because it's like one of the great novels - a cast of thousands, heroes (Sean, Mrs. Sean, Don Gunn), villians (you know who you are), and the rest of us. I'm learning more about the product, the philosophy behind it (and the other Valhalla products) and getting great ideas and inspiration for my own work.

So, I'll catch up with the end of the thread in the coming days.
Sincerely,
Ronan
ps - I bought Vee3, then Delay. These two monsters plus the two freebies (FreqEcho and Space Modulation) are waaaaaay more than my poor brain and ears can handle. But I see shimmer and room in my future..... But first, finish reading the thread....

Lots of love for v3 here as well (I have delay and plate, too).

Sooner or later I'll buy Ubermod, room and shimmer.

As Sean said - because every day is Black Friday at ValhallaDSP

Happy reading Ronan, and happy reverbing, Valhalla plugins rightfully deserve their place on the top shelf of reverb/delay/modulation software.

Speaking of which, I'm still yet to demo Shimmer..

Yesterday I was working on an acoustic guitar track where I wanted a Pinball Wizard kind of reverb sound--dramatic and attention-grabbing, but not too long, with a noticeable predelay and a bit of "fairy dust" in the tail. VVV's Huge Guitar Space preset (Chaotic Hall algorithm) turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. There are certain kinds of sounds this plug gets me to quicker and better than any other.

I just bought VVV (late to the party, I know), while being a long time user of VRoom and an happy user of ValhallaDelay.

I can't believe it took me so much time to test and buy it. I was stupidly thinking it will overlap with VRoom and never tested it, but actually it's a totally different beast and i'm even thinking it can associate pretty well (first reflections ambience with VRoom in serie with a longer colored reverb in VVV).

VVV is truly an amazing reverb for which I don't have any equivalent in my plugin folders (I don't have much character reverbs, but I even compared it to R4, and if they are a bit different, I think VVV can do more colors in an easier way).

It may look stupid for those that are using VVV since its release (more than 7 years ago I think), but for me it looks like a game changer...

Thanks a lot mr Costello...

I must have laid out my praise in this thread before but dang just have to give another shout-out here.

Such a gorgeous reverb this.

Have a mono guitar that I want to keep up the centre but then add some (very subtle) width and was remembering Krakatau had done some really nice nonlin presets for VVV and, well, just... Yum!

Thanks again Sean. You're one (and there's only a few) of my really trusted developers.

Keep up the great work!

3rd party presets

I am kinda rediscovering VVV now, I have owned it for a few years and have used it quite a bit. But I think I have under appreciated it and got lured away by other bright shiny objects

I only recently became aware that a few programmers have libraries of presets for Vintageverb. But in my searches I have yet to see very much info about them (except the descriptions on the developer's websites), or any reviews etc.

Sooooo, any reviews on 3rd party presets or opinions on 'must haves' would be appreciated.

Obviously there are loads of great presets that come with it, and I'm not afraid to tweak myself. But... I also love seeing what others have done and love the convenience and speed of just grabbing a preset.
