Software Tritone Digtal releases ClassicTone-560 (v2) for Mac

News from the guys of Tritone Digital:

ClassicTone-560 for Mac

ClassicTone-560 is a true-to-the-original recreation of one of the best sounding graphic EQs ever made. These graphic EQs are found in consoles and lunch boxes around the world and are prized for their punchiness and girth. This is an incredible EQ, and one could surely mix an album with this powerful tool alone. The 10 bands, featuring proportional Q, are great for scupting guitar or drums sounds. The mids are especially punchy and do wonders on snare, vocals, piano etc....

Someone has experience with this API influenced EQ?
How does it compare to it's hardware counterpart (since it's sampled) or Waves API 560 version?

As this one is using convolution - does it have the same performance issues as nebula?
Does anyone have some long term experience with one of their convolution plugs?

I use their PEV as RTAS from time to time, never had any problem with it. I don't know Nebula but I like the moderate CPU usage of the Tritone EQ.

test them I find the products they make full of character, very good eq's indeed!!! Classic tone is superb, if I remeber right it's an recreation of an old neumann mastering eq

Downloading the demo now. I'm already guessing I am going to want to buy this. I love the other two EQs. Really colorful, especially Valvetone 62'.

I like this company a lot, but I think I'm waiting until the UA API stuff comes out.

I have the feeling convolution works great with EQs (I compared their Neumann to the Softube one), the only downside being the higher CPU hit.

Nice, tried a few of the demos and they're very warm.
The classictone pev EQ is quite different to Softube's Passive EQ, but I find the latter is nice partnered with colortone for a bit of yin and yang.

Upon further usage of the demo this thing is killer. I really didn't want to buy any more EQs but this is worth it for how it sounds on acoustic guitars alone.

compared directly with Waves API560 and ClassicTone-560 is far better hands down. It sounds more natural and musical

Made the purchase but unlike the demo, it AU 64bit is not being installed.
Anyone else having this?

OSX 10.6.8
Logic 9.1.7

edit: Salvator is on it. He's updated the version before we even got done working today.

It would be cool to see a price to buy all the Tritone plugins as a bundle.

So far I can see a use for all of them in my system.

I tested AU version in Live 8 with lower CPU load (Live internal CPU indicator)... maybe different hosts made the difference.

I've just realized I'm running Live at 96kHz, I think that's the reason.

I have tested TD, URS and Waves version of API560 10 band EQ and in my opinion, the TD is the best, URS A10 is very close (with the best CPU performance) and Waves is by far the coldest and most digital sounding
from these 3.

3x URS have the same CPU impact as 1x TD or 1x Waves.
It is pity that there is no 64bit version of URS because after this test it could be the winner

big thumbs up

I can say without doubt that this is a great eq. I have decided to stop buying software eq's as I was:
1. Finally happy with what I have
2. Have spent so much time and money investing in plugs
3. Have decided to add more hardware compressors and eq's
4. Enough was enough

But after demoing this product, it really made a difference to my last project. Especially on drums and guitars. No other eq did what this did for that specific task although Equality came extremely close in one example. I am more than impressed with this eq on specific instruments. A must try on individual drums and buss drums, guitars the same..

Big thumbs up to a company that I stopped using their products so long ago that I almost forgot about Tritone.

After deeper demoing I need to correct this. URS does not come even close to TD version, Waves is a joke.

I agree the URS a10 is really thin sounding. I'd like to see tritone digital do a 550a/b as well.
