I had a demo model of the TS-1 here this past weekend; it really is a fantastic mic. I used both the cardioid and omni capsules on an acoustic guitar session as well as using the omni as a mono drum overhead. Very smooth sound, warm bottom end, open but not too bright top.

This is one helluva cool mic and made even more attractive by the price.

Just curious, they DO NOT mention the AKG 451 adapter any longer...Is this still an option? This was the selling point for me. Anyone have info?

Just asked them this yesterday - their reply:

"We are offering the capsule adapter as an option to the TS-1. Retail
cost of the ADP-1 is $49."

I also thought this was included in the pkge - oh well - you can't have everything for free...

I bought a pair of these last week. Used them on overheads last weekend. Cardioid capsules in an ORTF pattern. Plugged into original Neve 1073's straight to tape. Initial impression: Great sound, very smooth, nice top for Chinese made mics. A real steal for the money. I bought the AKG adapters too. I need to use them more but I do like what I've heard so far.

They are here, so far just talking into one is all I've had time for...nice sound and surprisingly low self noise.

Will report more later.

Just picked my pair up today. Haven't had time to plug them in, but just opening the box and looking and touching the gear, it seems like a super incredible value... The mics have some weight, The power supply is pretty heavy, Shockmount, 2 capsule and a really nice road case.... I will try to post some recordings when I have the time..

Keep us posted guys - inquiring minds want to know!!!

I'm ready for an alternate set of micamps to utilize all those RED/BLUE caps! They're anxiously waiting for a body to lie on! (pun completely intended!!!) heh

Quite embarassed to ask, but....after all this is why I love gearslutz. I've never owned a 451 style mic, blue, red, anything of the sort.

Is it basically that any of the red/blue caps will work with an AKG 451, or this new Chameleon Labs mic (with the AKG adapter), or any mic that claims to have the 451 style body?

That's what I've been led to believe......but it just sorta sounds too good to be true. If so, I'm gonna have to lust after a pair of these Chameleons and a pair of the Red B6 capsules for drum OH and acoustic guitar duties.
