Most audio software companies have big end of years sales, no? Been doing it for years? WUP anniversaries should fall predominantly around the holidays? Does this make sense?

So it's very attractive to do the WUP thing around the holidays. Last year's deal was awesome. I bet they'll do it again this year. Maybe not as awesome, perhaps merely super.

And then Waves does a version up shortly afterwards and that's a bad thing? It's win-win to me.

WUP is based on the purchase date. The WUP end date can also vary if you have other overlapping purchases.

True though, they are very solid from the get go anyway
Yes, I think that because they have a pretty solid product out of the box (I've had a couple of issues, that were eventually fixed), and by the sheer number of revisions per version they have been releasing - 13 for version 8? - they've clearly been hard at work - and I give them credit for that - I'd say Waves stands above their peers in this regard.

Now I've been somewhat critical of WUP and how it was implemented in the past. But I think Waves is clearly on the right track lately. Their prices have become more reasonable to someone like me. They're dropping the iLok. All good for me.

A certain DSP card-based platform would be getting my money, if their hardware wasn't so overpriced and under-powered

I'm saying Waves sells a lot of plugs during the holiday's sale - maybe Tony can weigh in on that. I guess I'm also assuming the biggest part of Waves customer base would tend to buy stuff on sale. Home studios, small studios, etc. As opposed to a more professional studio where if you need it now you buy it now.

All I know is I'm liking it heh

I think that more sales during the holiday is logical for most consumer products in general.
Major & select studios are probably comped.

Waves has big sales all year round. Some bigger than others. Will the new NLS summing plugin come in the V9 release?

No, I have had waves plugins since the mid nineties and never experienced any bugs that I can remember.

Speaking of long ago, still have this old kswavesdongle and no
nice upgrade offers anywhere, haha.

The only one I remember after all these years was the H-EQ issue on TDM. They fixed it fairly quickly though.

This is so cool! I've been waiting for 64 bit for forever. I just emailed you the other day, and got the link to the new discount page for the Waves plugs. Will the NLS be up there?

could this be the tipping point where more users take the 64bit OS plunge ??

still holding out on W7 32, even though I have 16gig of ram installed.....

might be the time once waves hits 64bit

Can someone please clarify for me as I am uncertain on the iLok support with v8/9. Is it still valid or are waves not supporting ilok anymore?
Im really confused on this. I understand if I require 64 bit versions of the existing plugins all the releases i have will have to be updated. If I am happy with the 32bit versions as they are I can stay on ilok but if I upgrade to 64bit I have to change from ilok to a new dongle or system internet registration?

I am sure more information on this will come out shortly. I asked the rep at NAMM about this. He said iLok would continue to be an option for v9. But according to him, the Waves plug-ins load much faster without iLok so if load times bother you, then that would be a reason to move to one of the newer authentication methods. Anyway, that was my understanding back in January.

Watch they will release these near the end of the month and then on April 1st say they will be giving all waves plug ins away for free for one day only with more details to come soon, then on April 2nd they will say you know that was a joke right.
