I'd prefer a handful of really dialed presets over endless control 95% of the time. When I want to get really tweaky it would be nice to be able to get into the guts.
+1

I also hope that the development of this new update will focus on reducing aliasing to an absolute minimum on one hand and enhancing the liveliness in the processed sound as much as possible, on the other.

It has a tendency to be a bit "hazy" at times as it is now - hopefully this will become a thing of the past.

Sound-quality is much more important to me than new features!

Do you think it is going to look too deep?

- why everything in a plugin? Because e.g. the delay passes through the tape machine in feedback
- why split plugins? E.g. to make the tape machine look simpler

Just let me know your thoughts here if you want...
Dear Quinto,

My suggestion is: to have everything in one plug-in, but with different internal modules that can be disabled and even changed in therms of chain position.
This way the plugin would have a main "core" (basically like Roundtone 2, that's what I use most for color rather than 'emulation') and the all the other functions (Roundtone 3 and newer) could be "below".
Also, doing this way the presets could have all functions saved, and the user would be able to select just the modules he want to use - for color only (like me), for emulation, for cpu-saving...
And the possibilitiy of changing chain position of these itens could allow us to get wild effects!

All the best,
Ave.

PS: I wouldn't mind if this major upgrade could be a paid one.

As a mastering engineer, using it in that situation, I'd way prefer to have it as separate plugins (and then never use the delay). I hate visual clutter and an over-complex GUI with too many controls. Keep it simple = can work faster! At the moment it already has too much of a split personality, IMHO.

I vote for one plugin with maybe the delay section hidden.

Hell Yes..! I use it a lot , on all kinds of sounds.. vocals, beats etc etc

It's got a unsexy GUI and I like everyone else am hoping for an update with a cleaner and clearer GUI.

But soundwise.... i could not live without it.

love / max

Hard to say here as the last version won't work properly on my mac. Been waiting on the update which was being worked on in 2013, hopefully that will fix the bugs.

I really find presets useful especially since your emulations have a lot of depth. I like Reelbus' idea of a gui. No spinning stuff. When you looked at a tape machine it was the lower part unless you were worried about how much tape you had left! Anyway looking forward to the update.

Hey Q, Disto? That wouldn't happen to be a Distressor style plugin would it?

oh you tease!

Now for the "when is it done?" posts

While we're at it - Cuttertone is one of my absolute favourite plugins. It has the width knob which is always useful, it has the bass mono control which is essential and it has that interesting compression. The dynamic knob is good too!
While i cant find any direct reason for an update of it or a new version, is there anything planned?
I have no idea what that would be though!

Yes, of course!

It is getting the (optional) effect of the pickup in the groove and RIAA passive filter. Who knows if they are interesting components of the vynil love? They'll be colors, anyway.

Hi Quinto,

Can you give some hints about how different Roundtone is going to be?
I'm very curious about the features and off coarse the GUI.
Thank you for making (very) exciting plugins at democratic prices, I absolutely love them and keep an eye on everything you release!

Benny.

Hi Benny,
it is keeping the tapehead part on the top, because I think it helps while managing effects on the screen, to have the feeling at a glance. General graphics and knobs are redesigned, though.
A smoother model (Roundtone can sound quite dark if you don't pay attention).
Optional input and output stages.
Enhanced models (I've learnt a lot during these years), with the same sound but even more dynamic behaviour for saturation.
More effects related to tape, like ADT and more.
Thanks

Yes, extended, and you can hear how good it sounds if you set it to an infinite loop and play with parameters :D
