You can group the instances of the plugin in some "gangs".
The plugin in the same machine share the small knobs plus the menus.

I.e.: you insert three instances on bassdrum, snare, panoramics and set everyone to "Tape Machine A". When you change a parameter (small knobs or menus, including oversampling mode) on anyone of the three instances, the other two follow it.
Tape Machines B, C and D are three more groups.
Input and volume (big knobs) are NOT (never) included in this linking.

"Linked to A/B/C/D" is the same, but the instance shares only "bypass" menu.

Trying to respect a deadline set at june 30. Maybe before but, as with every first porting (this is the first Mac AU 64bit), it is hard to say.

Yes, while it is mono in vst format (auto internal switching), it needs a mono version for hosts like Logic (where the current version works on mono tracks but wastes some cycles).

Roundtone is getting another nice feature: a Dolby B/C expander (trademark).

Dolby noise reduction system is based on an expansion (increase of dynamics) of high frequencies before going to tape and a complimentary high frequencies compression (restoring original dynamics) before playback (in cassette player).

This is aimed to increase signal to noise ratio on tape recordings.

Here a great paper by Dolby Labs (pdf):

Dolby B/C/S

Some techs are using original Dolby noise reduction units including Dolby Cat. No. 22A module as a creative unit. Several hardware units are selling on Ebay.

Being noise reduction based on high frequencies expansion and compression, the expansion unit can be used to enhance high frequency content of audio tracks.

The new version of Roundtone, including a meter and the new Dolby B/C option will be a free update for existing users.

Very nice!
I can't wait!
Any idea on when this update may be released?
And do you send the updates out automatically, or are we supposed to send out requests?
Ever since I bought Roundtone I've used it in every mix!
It makes everything sound fatter, bigger and better!
Simply amazing, thanks a lot for your hard work!

Thanks!

Could be available in a pair of weeks.
We'll distribute it, no need to ask for.

Yes, Roundtone is sounding great without being a special effect, I'm biased but I agree

It is going to get its RTAS version, too. No more wrappers.

Talking

Can't wait to try out the Dolby. I remember reading that John Lennon used this as an effect on his voice. I don't remember if it was Dolby A or not though.

Peace

A new simple tutorial page for Roundtone has been added to the website.

It can be accessed from Roundtone web page or directly here:

Roundtone VST - Tape emulation - How To

It is like a container where we'll collect information and samples to help using Roundtone at its best.

Roundtone has such a simple interface, presets can be simply written down.
The page contains some presets we use very often, useful as a starting guide and as a reference to get the best control on the "Tape Machine".
