I agree with you...there are other plugins that do the vinyl noise type things , and you can add to the chain if you wanna. It really shouldn't be part of this one.

As someone else suggested, it would be cool to have a meter though, to be able to keep an eye on how much you're driving roundtone.

I think Roundtone will keep this simple concept.
It will evolve with metering, maybe even more algorithms, some interface improvements, but not new features. It is a tone shaper, not a multifx, and this virtual studio technology lets us put more modules in series very simply.
I find myself abandoning complex plugins more and more... Only simple, essential, special plugins survive in the directory and in the projects...
But Mac and 64bit are the priorities, now.

Maybe this question already got covered...if yes, I'm sorry for asking again

I just switched to win7 and have jbridged all of my plugins...
For roundtone there seems to be some dll file missing, which is related to visual c++. Installed c++ runtime, but it still doesn't work..

How can I solve this problem?

Hey mdoelger,
I had a similar problem and found it hard to fix, but i did and i made a thread explaining what to do so it could help others in the same situation.

Hey everyone!... Just wanted to throw my $0.02 in the mix and say that, at least IMHO, this plugin is the real deal. Playing around with it today on a (sample-based) faux-bass guitar track, on the new "Dirty" algo's, produced delicious, inspiring results. My previous experience with tape-emulators was limited to URS Saturation and the Virsyn V-Tape, but safe to say, this thing has a creamy drive-response that feels altogether different from the aforementioned alternatives.

Also, I'm not sure the "instance-linking" capabilities of the plugin have been stressed/explained enough in this thread. Maybe I'm just slow out the gate, but I actually didn't realize that you can put a copy of Roundtone on every track of your mix and have them all linked together, so that adjusting a parameter on one instance will simultaneously effect the others in the same fashion! Perhaps I missed the boat on such features becoming standard practice or something, but to me this is a fantastic advancement, which I've been dreaming of ever since these console/tape/etc.-saturation devices first came to my attention.

I do.
I set it up so it is almost transparent and I boost some top end going in.
So far I like what it does — it can add that subtle gel and cohesiveness.

Ok, cool. So you actually could use it in a mastering context without colouring the sound to much? Is that on 30 ips?

Well, to me using 2-buss processing does not constitute "mastering" =)
But, yeah, you can easily dial something subtle but useful, that's what I liked about the plugin. On others it's usually nothing then too much.
Yes, I'm usually play with 30, but it's mostly because I haven't too much time to learn other programs.

Right on. Metering would be nice though

In general, 30ips is suitable for more dynamic music like classic, jazz etc. and 15 ips for pop/rock/country. But there are no hard rules, let your ears decide.

Haha, I also used 'Bars and Pipes' on an Amiga 500 with my dad's Korg m1 and a Roland S-330 ( 2x 7,2 seconds sampling time)
