Modeled by UA’s DSP engineers with help from AES magnetic recording expert Jay McKnight over a 12-month period, the Studer A800 Multichannel Tape Recorder plug-in for UAD-2 is the first and only product of its kind. This plug-in faithfully models the entire tape path and circuit electronics of the hardware, plus the sounds of four distinct tape formulas.

heh maybe this is some new clever marketing technique. Release a plugin with no bugs, no beta, no iLok and then announce it on GS several weeks after its been available to buy

I get your drift with regard to *certain manufacturers* abusing the pre-release announcement. But I highly doubt that UAD intended to duplicate an existing GS thread weeks after the launch. This same exact press release appeared elsewhere weeks ago... Press desk is just snoozing.
