Nice. I used one of their summing boxes on a project a few years ago. Could never find one to purchase though.

Assuming it has the Neve edge like some of their other products, what's the price?

There will soon be a better description! Compressor timing=True RMS detection
Signal flow:
Preamp - HP filter - compressor with blend control - EQ - output stage, which is switchable between electronically balanced or transformer (carnhill)balanced class-A.

@Tekay - cool thing, can't wait to try it out !! I love the BC-1 and plan to get a DP-1 very soon. So this product seems to be very interesting

Can I use it also for tracking hot Line-Signals +4db out of my DAW ??

And will it be possible to link the compression-stage with two units ?????

- in case I'd like two :P

I'm very excited about the TK product line ! I appreciate Vintage Design Gear for long Time - for the build quality and for the price and what it does !

PS: Add an additional MS-Matrix to your Blender and I'll give it a big BOOM

Best Regards,

Julian

Looking forward to it... Hopefully, no scratchy pots... the blend knob on the BC1 is rather nightmarish...

Well if you have a scratchy blend pot why don't you just email us the serial no: and you get a new blend pot! (conductive plasic)
We only use conductive plastic pots for everything that passes audio.

Any thought from The Strip owners (sound, character, best applications..)?

Has anybody got The Strip and BC1 Stereo Compressor?
I am sure they both are a good combo, coming from the same company.

I like it very much. The micpreamp is clean and open, the compressor is very simple to use and the two EQs are great for adding bass and treble. Often I end up adding some treble, cause in the end that's what I'll end up doing in the mix anyway. The treble EQ is smooth and effective. The bass EQ is also very good, sometimes I just want a little bit more bass and it's great for that purpose. A little goes a long way.
The compressor can pretty much go from subtle compression to in-yer-face compression. The Blend knob makes it possible to use it for additive compression, adding just a little bit more energy without touching the transients.

The Strip is very clean sounding (in a good way), but if you want more warmth and color, there is a button to engage a vintage Class A output stage which includes a Carnhill output transformer. In my ears the vintage mode adds some warmth and body to the sound and maybe alters the transients a little bit. I usually end up using the vintage mode on vocals and bass; and the clean mode on spoken word, acoustic guitars and percussion.

All in all it's a nice channel strip that let's me focus on the music.

I own a BC1 as well and it's a very good stereo compressor. I don't use it together with The Strip, because the BC1 is strapped across my mixbuss all the time.

The compressor in The Strip is good enough for recording, so I haven't felt the need to use any of my other compressors when using it.

Cheers

When you say the Strip is "good enough for recording", do you mean is really good or just enough for recording?

Do you use The Strip also for mixing, if so, would you please comment about it?

I was referring to the compression and like I wrote, I haven't felt the need to use any of my other compressors when using it for recording. I mainly record vocals, speech, acoustic guitar and bass; and the compressor is versatile enough for all those sources. I can alter the character by changing the Ratio, Threshold and Blend settings.

No, I haven't. It's hooked up to one of my mics for easy access. :-)

To me The Strip is a very useful channel strip because it keeps the integrity of what's sent into it and let's me add a bit of compression and basic filtering. I'll do most of the processing in Pro Tools and Cubase later on when I'm mixing, but it's great to be able to add some smooth compression and treble before hitting the computer. At high ratio the compressor is also great for safe-guarding when I'm doing a fast recording keeping the levels from clipping into the computer.

Cheers

The Strip contains the same switchable outputs as in the DP1. A electronically balanced output for a clean signal-path or a discrete transformer-balanced class-A output for a more punchy and fat low-end, nice mid character and a silky top. The discrete output-stage is built around big Carnhill (St'Ives) transformer and it's the same typ of output stage/transformer that we use in our Vintagedesign line.

I only said it was possible to add a jack! There is an extra hole on the back. Adding a link switch had been a lot of work as the pcb layout was ready when you asked.

Oh ... in fact, I'm sorry to hear this.
But nice when you plan it for the future and allready thought about this.

I'll get me The Strip in anyway for Tracking my Mono-Synths and other sources.

Clean yes, mojo yes

I use the DP1 for tracking all the time, the vintage switch is awesome. Makes the signal fat while maintaining the nice top end.
