Cartec EQP-1A

Cartec are a new British company that have stepped up to fight in the 'clone wars' with their version of the classic Pultec EQ. After a conversation at Olympic studios in London regarding their Pultecs and the noise/maintenance issues Liam Carter set out to build a no compromise alternative

The Cartec EQP-1A features...

- All valve gain stage and valve power rectification
- Transformer balanced input and output (authentic hand-wound British Sowter models)
- Point-to-point wiring (no circuit boards inside) and hand assembled in England
- Sealed switches and control pots (military grade Grayhill and PEC models respectively)
- JJ ECC83s, ECC82 and United Electronic CV4005 rectifier valves
- 150mm deep aluminium chassis/engraved aluminium faceplate
- Custom made knobs by Davies molding (Manufacturer of the original Pultec knobs)

We think it looks great and sounds amazing but we would say that!
so feel free to contact us with any technical questions or for details of how to buy or demo a unit

Listend to two of these units around Sniperschools studio, they really do sound fantastic, if I could get the $'s in place I'd have two without a shadow of doubt .......

They don't look like originals (at least those Pultecs I saw so far) not only because of color, but more like Tube Tech clones.
TT are good EQs, but not close match of vintage Pultecs, so here is question - are these Cartec clones just good EQs (like TT) or close matches of original Pultecs?
A lot depends on transformers (I know it is nothing new)

Apart from the color they look exactly like Pultecs ( exept if you only saw the 2U ones ) .

It's actually an easy thing to do . look at that homemade one Crossen Streams - Pultec EQP-1A equalizer clone .

From what I understand, these are very, very close copies of a Pultec

Ahh! So sorry, I'll take them off you if they aren't working for you. I can trade some tone sucking ones if you want ......heh

Jokes apart I'll see if I can try a pair on a few jobs in a few months and duly report....
