So much great software coming out lately. I was thinking about coming out of the box a little (on the 2 bus). I think I'm about to do a 180 and stay totally ITB! To hell with whether or not software holds it's value... it's beginning to sound great. It's great for workflow. The intro price is way less expensive than high end hardware. And it's a whole hell of alot of fun!

That is to make it look original 1RU (1HE in German).

The picture above (first post) is the actual screenshot, but with an artificial mirror-effect...

Dirk.
that's too big, not everyone's on 21'' screens

huh? 1024 pixels falls someway short of a 21" screen.
However, the picture in the first post is actually well over 1350 pixels in width. But is stated as being actual size?

------------

Anyway, I can't wait to try a beta of this, please?! Im really looking forward to comparing it with my hardware version thumbsup

He also said it's 1024 pixels in width, so there is obviously some conflict here. Still, I measured the image at 1368. Which although on the big side, still fits comfortably within my 20" monitor.
If it was 1024 wide instead, then it would even fit on the screen of my 12" laptop also.

Anyway, if this thing really does exactly what it is supposed to do, then I really wouldn't give a damn how much screen space it takes up. It would be worth it.
Besides, plugins are not in your face 24/7.

It´s the actual screenshot, BUT in a bigger version.
(promo shot for print mags etc).
The GUI will be exactly 1024 pixels wide...

A/B testing...

I have both vitalizer classic jack and MK2-T hardware boxes. I love these boxes! Thet're great to enhance your mix. I can't wait to do A/B test with the VST plugin version...

Count me in for Bèta testing!

I think I read somewhere (long ago) that Tom Petty's "Wildflowers" (1994) had a SPL Tube Vitalizer on the mixbuss.

Can someone confirm this or am I just making stuff up?

If so, that's a high recommendation!

I have digged deeply in the SPL "analog archives of fame" and found a nice collection of VIP users of the Vitalizer... here is what they say:

Bob Ludwig: "The Vitalizer is a fantastic tool for old tapes," Bob explains. "It has been saving me on several re-issue projects."

Simon Philips: "I have been using the Vitalizer on overheads for the kit in record mode and also on the piano. I have always had a problem with recording cymbals in the digital domain. No matter what mics – even though when 24 bit came on stream the sound improved – but there was still a sweetness that was reproduced on analog tape that is missing in dig domain. The TV does a wonderful job of "Analogizing" the cymbal sound and the overall kit sound. I also ran a couple of mixes through it too and they sounded great.

David Reitzas: "When an artist comes to me and compliments me on the sound, I can't take all of the credit. A big part of my sound comes from the equipment I use. I've always been a big fan of the original Vitalizer, but lately my new favorites are the Tube Vitalizer and The Qure Equalizer.

Barry Rudolph: The Vitalizer MK2-T always works great for clearing up vocals" .

Ronald Prent: "I like the SPL Vitalizer MK2-T, because it brings air, loudness and happiness into drums, strings and pianos."

Chris Heil: "I used the MK2-T for the first time in a mix session, with tons of choir and backing vocal tracks and things really got messy. Thanx to the MK2-T, I got it all placed very nicely, due to the amazing presence it put across those tracks. The same I did on drum ambience and overheads."

Can't wait!

Been 10 years since my old Tube Vitalizer. Miss it dearly. Magic glue! (With the LC in)
Having jumped to SPL plugs, I can't help my anticipation.

We are beta testing the Vitalizer plug-in internally today in TDm, RTAS, VST and AU formats, and so far we couldn´t find any strange behaviour.

This means we are positive to start the public beta in a few days as planned!

We´ll keep you posted...

Cheers, Dirk.

I've never heard the hardware version, but damn, this thing sounds really great if you don't abuse it. Especially the low end... can get really fattened up with out much, if any, increase to the overall level. Width control is really nice, too. Puts a polish on mixes or masters like I've not been able to get before.

I think this does it... I'm staying ITB heh. Nice job!!! thumbsup

Curious who your partners might have been on designing and building this plug... the usual suspects?

Your early feedback suggests it's very similar to the real deal thumbsup
It certainly tallies with my experience.

However...

The SPL guys can't be serious.. I need an iLok key widget thing.. FOR A DEMO!?
I've been looking forward to this since it was announced.. So this is a let down & a half to put it mildly. Not cool, guys...
