I am very interested in this eq.
I have been looking for neve's 33114 but how is the aurora going to sound?

Anybody know how the eq sounds?

Yes... it sounds AWESOME! Big, open, POWERFUL! This EQ has tons of balls. heh

Yes. The amplifier stages and transformers used are the same as the GTQ, GTC, etc... But, it's a million times more flexible, so it's difficult to compare them.

So, when this new EQ will be finally available?

is the eq something you can use with a GTQ2? or is the Eq's overlapping?
Maybe a BAE 1073 MP with this new aurora EQ?

It's a 4 band EQ with adjustable high and low pass filters, so you wouldn't have any need to use it with another EQ - especially hardware.

Sometimes I will use it in conjunction with software for either automation or a very, very high Q notch. Don't get me wrong, the GT4-8 is quite flexible (the mid bands have a 3 position switch for varying the width of the cut/boost,) and it is capable of surgical cuts. It's just that I usually like to use the GT4-8 to boost on either side of the cut.

I know it's based upon the GTQ2 design, but, aside from being in a different world flexibilitywise, I believe the GT4-8 sounds better as well. So, if you like the GTQ2 (and I do love mine), you'll really love the new EQ!

The 8 channel is available for order now... The 2 channel is still being sorted.

This is my dilemma as well. I really love the GTQ2, but I want the 4 band EQ with it... I just don't need 8 channels of EQ and 8 pre's (as slutty as it would be).

So no 4 band GTQ2 ever coming?

It's hard to squeeze it all into one box.. We have all sorts of ideas for the future but that's all they are at the moment.

We have the metalwork for the stereo version and also now the pcbs. Just a matter of populating them and off we go...

That's cool, it never hurts to dream though...heh

I just need to find the client's and money to grab a GTP8 and GT4-8.

Also, maybe I should be asking Tony but what was the ballpark figure for both those units together (GTP8 and GT4-8)?

I am not Tony, but you are looking at around $10K usd.

On that note how about a 4 channel version ala 4 channel mic pre with full EQ. This would make more sense for some of us that are not looking to drop 10 large right now on anything or in the for-see-able future.

Paying half may be more justifiable to our bankruptcy accountants.
