The Blue 315 has 1/3, 2/3 and they're so handy, essential even.

Because we feel that this is a very nice range going from subtle to obvious results, we have decided to skip the "fine gain range" in favor of another very nice feature to be announced very soon.

Concerning timing, the final version will be presented at the Musikmesse in April and then we will ship the first series a few weeks later.

Did you come to this range by listening? Looks a little odd on paper but by listening you may be onto something!

What makes it look odd are the "in between values" that I have just estimated. Like said before, we are still fine-tunig, so the final values might be a little bit different, but should be close to the ones stated above.

The real measured values are ususally not flat .25, .50 or .75 values as stated above (just think about component tolerances) anyway, but they are close enough to justify easy to read scales on the front panel.

What's the fancy "new feature"?

Actually, there are two special features on the museq:
First comes the possibility to individually switch the high/low shelf filters into high/low cut filters with an additional resonance peak, which allows some very nice tweaks.
The second one is a switchable slew rate limiter for the output stages, which influences the frequency response and adds THD to the signal. It gives the EQ a second flavor, and we have called it the warm mode for a reason.
The overall sound characteristics are wide, open and transparent - somehow it's like raising a curtain one wasn't aware of before.

My (well,it is a demo so far but I don't think I'll be able to give this back) Museq with serial #000002 has just arrived here at Surround SFX / TimeTools.

My first impression (so bring in the lump of crystalline salt) is that I'm going to leave the "Top" band (aka the upper parametric band) set to 16kHz and gain at +6dB and just remove the knobs. Well, not really of course, but it does sound *that* good. Fast, tight bass and no resonancy feel when boosting mids whatsoever.

I'll be writing up a little review in a bit----if time permits. In the meantime look at these ;-)

Is kind of Alpha EQ in the pipeline, too?

I'm sure this would be a great project, but it is not in the pipeline for now. In terms of technology, the museq employs quite a lot of alpha compressor know how inside (the discrete opamps, lots of identic components etc.)

But of course you are thinking about an M/S option, dynamic bands and other wonderful features like that... maybe we'll do it in the future, but probably not in the next few years.

Our next development project is something completely different: a very cool API 500 series module in elysia style! We're not ready to reveal what it is right now, but more news on this will be coming soon.
