Agreed. I wonder how the plugin mapping will be on this thing? It seems like Digi purposely don't want to invade D-Command territory. As a D Command owner myself, would have liked to have seen a black D-Command ES as well

Without hearing them it is hard for me to have an opinion.
Although if SSL can get their **** togetehr with preamps than I can see no reason that digi can't.
Time will tell.

does anyone know the price of this new ICON ES street? just the Icon, without the Protools.
Ive asked one or two time and always the responce is confusing and elusive because some people say it comes with the Protools HD and interfaces.. etc
So Just the Icons .. how much street? anyone knows?

thanks!

"The bright, easy-to-read, dual-row LED scribble strips provide instant visual feedback for channel names, plug-in parameters, sends, panning, and other editing functions."

This quote is from digi's website. Does anybody know how many character's can the LED scribble strips display? This was my biggest complaint with all the other digidesign control surfaces including the icon, you couldn't understand the channel name with 6 or fewer characters. It will be amazing if the C24 does over 12 characters and the icon is still at 6 characters.

You can buy mine when I upgrade. The upgrade plan is actually very cool. I own both a Control 24 and I still have a Mackie Digital 8 bus sitting in storage that I can't sell for anything. I might be better off trading in my Mackie for the $3000.00 they will give me and selling my Control 24 on here or ebay.

That makes it very interesting to me. I might be able to finally get out from under the boat anchor called Mackie!

YUCK!

ICK!

AAAGHK!

no thank you.

just wait a few months until THESE things start showing up on the used market... for half the price!

in fairness, my biggest complaint (of many) about the Control 24 is that the colour scheme makes it so difficult to see what you are trying to do.

everything is grey/silver on grey/silver.

you have to lean forward and squint to make sure youre pressing the right button.

not exactly what this kind of control surface should be offering us.

the hell with the sleek / slick look, give us brash colour coding so that we can use it fast and fecking intuitively.

this new thnigumajig doesnt look like much of an improvement in this area.

and, as others have stated, the analog bits n bobs are a waste of our money. digi pres, 8-channel summing and monitor section? again, no thank you.

for shame, for shame...

its just too expensive and too cocky.

MUPPETS!

!
Dream about it . The original C24 never came to half price even after years . When I sold mine I had several people wanting to buy it at the asking price .

It's the only ethernet affordable controller . The things that are compared to it are midi . No contest .

i have a control 24 and i'm glad to see they thought of line of sight.... i.e. looking over the 45 degree ramp of nobs and meters into my live room. I like the lower profile of the new c24. For the money and easy integration into PT HD rigs, It's and OK deal. Not a great deal at 9999.00, but they will drop and offer better trade ins for the control 24 down the road. I'll get one. heh
