Thumbs up SKnote announces AnyGauss - New life for your drums.

Mangling drums, giving new life to multi-mic tracked drums, enhancing and more.
We packed some very powerful features in a very simple interface.

NewGauss is a concept that started from possible uses of Gaussian noise, that's why the name.
It is a powerful set of:

- Detection.
- Spectral and formant processing.
- (Re)Synthesis.

More information coming.

*****EDIT
Released in a few days (we extended the original concept quite a lot).

Special KickStart offer: get a plugin between now and its official release as available in the Webshop and receive AnyGauss included (full license, all formats included).

Looks very interesting and a lot of fun.

What do you do if you already own nearly all SkNote plugins?

I should just say I'm loving your new UIs - very clean, easy to use, they look great.

No randomness, more transformation and structure.

I have an EQ that uses a Gaussian filter and I love it... so now I'm drawn to anything Gaussian

Hey Quinto, it's 27th, and I was about to buy one plugin of your plugins to receive the free gauss - but I missed the 26th. :-)

Now that it's still not out, is there an extension to your offer?

the deal's been extended to Jan 7th, so i'd (Any)guess: not quite ready yet...

and still none of us have a clear idea what this is supposed to do.

original post: "More info coming"...

You probably think we are happily enjoying our holidays here, under a hot sicilian sun. We are happily working, instead, as we decided for a huge extension of the concept. Too many nice things to add once the structure was ready, so no problem, let's extend it to build a coeherent and powerful thing.

Main features:
  • Selective drums re-tuning (formant shifting).
  • Selective drums timbre compression (compensates for variation in touch).
  • Target timbre compression (set the fomants manually).
  • Attack pitch envelope (increases perception of strength).
  • 30 bands hit-selective (see below) EQ.
  • Hit sampling.
  • Enhancement and re-synthesis with vocoded noise and three tunable resonators.
  • All the processing with optional selective detection (e.g. process only the snare but not the bassdrum in a loop).
  • Powerful, selective trigger, with trigger band and reject band. Process only selected hits.
  • Negate triggering mode, for easy complementary processing.
  • Mix dry, resonators, vocoded noise, sample.

Nice, very nice tool. Thanks for your patience, we are working to be extremely happy with this thing.

Example: on a drums loop, set the trigger to open only on the snare. Tune and mix three resonators, set them to 50% noisy, add some vocoded (matches the source better) noise. Retune the snare to be 50 cents lower. Set the timbre compressor to 50% to make successive hits more regular. Manually adjust the average target timbre. Add a bit of attack pitch envelope to make the sound stronger. Sample a couple hits to be mixed to the source. Adjust the EQ, it acts only on the snare.

Copy the preset, paste it to another instance, set the trigger to negated to open on the bassdrum, set everything for the bassdrum.

Bypass everything and see how far you've gone.

On a sidenote: we'll be at NAMM Jan 2020 in Anaheim. Please drop an email to quintosardo at yahoo dot it if you allow us to buy you a beer and just enjoy some chatting (ehm... my English...) or discuss ideas or whatever.

We'll be based in Huntington Beach CA, going back and forth from Anaheim.

Oh... happy 2020! :D

Well, this is a good pick. The best feedback we got about DDD is "It sounds just right"

Anyone know whether the intro offer is still going today or whether did it end on the beginning of the 7th?

Thanks in advance!

I'd *Guess* it's including today, as that's the day he quoted - it would be pretty harsh to make the 'until' exclusive... and also the plugin isn't out yet, right? So maybe it'll be out tomorrow.

i Hope so, anyway. I just bought Mattertone.

Actually we are probably extending it as it is not released yet

Really a crazy tool. It took a lot more time because it is not the original concept anymore. Every new feature gave new ideas and we didn't stop, ehm.

We also added that formant-shifting retuning thing. E.g. you can trigger-select the snare and retune it in a drums track. Actually, its trigger-selective things are its strength. You can trigger on a frequency band but also add a trigger-reject band.
You can e.g. spectrally-compress the snare-only to make hits more even in the mix. Or adjust its level. Or EQ just it. Or add some "snares" by noise (well, it was called AnyGauss because of the noise, base of the original idea...) but not to the bassdrum. Or just replace by a sample. Or mix it in. Or add body by resonators.

Ok, we extended it for the whole duration of NAMM (Jan 20).

But it is coming out before we leave to CA (12th).

Here we go! This is a quick showcase of the lots of features of this new baby.
Don't be fooled by the apparent simplicity.

Compress: compresses the spectrum to an average, acquired spectrum. Smooths out differences between hits.
EQ: a 3rd octave EQ, only on selected hits!
Shift: shifts the formants for pitch re-tuning.
Decay: manipulates the decay of the original signal, only on selected hits.
Pitch: a pitch envelope on selected peaks, to increase perceived strength.
Sample: add a sample to the input, on selected hits.
Resonators: resonant frequencies, up to three, independent frequency and level, with control on the source.
Noise: vocoded, sticks to hits' spectrum.
Trigger: frequency selective, no threshold, rejected band (for a better identification of homogeneous hits).

Now working on better examples, getting feedback about the concept, fine tuning things, then we can close and send it out.

Note the kickstart offer: get a plugin from now to the end of NAMM and we'll include a full AnyGauss license :D

This looks great. I am most excited these days by plugins like this: plugins that offer something beyond hardware emulation.
