No preset yet, as this mode hasn't been released. Once it is released, just turn up the Age knob. You'll get there.

Does Pulsar Echorec do anything we can't approximate on ValhallaDelay?
Anyone used it?

I found Echorec to be more in-your-face than, say, the one I bought: Audiority Echoes MK2. Valhalla Delay can get the same character is tape, but not to the same degree (esp. of Echoes with the advanced controls).

If you're only going to have one delay, you can't beat Valhalla Delay. At best, you can tie it, with Echoboy.

We've just updated ValhallaDelay to 1.8.2. The changes:

• LoFi Mode. This mode is designed to reproduce the qualities of tape that is in the process of self destructing. Wow, flutter, and audio rate "scrape flutter" add layers of patina and mystery to your input sound. Perfect for simulating worn tape echoes, adding a wobble to the master buss, putting a halo of warm noise around your track, sounding like a swarm of bees...the LoFi mode does all that sorta stuff.
• PitchDuck Mode. Similar to the Pitch delay mode, but with ducking. Perfect for lush echoes that follow your input signal, reverbs that can be "clarified" by turning up the ducking, and the unique "adaptive shimmer" sounds that track your input signal perfectly without muddying it up.

Age has no effects whatsoever in lo-fi mode , no (beautifull ) noise ..
Hi-fi mode sounds dirtier than lo-fi mode :D
Or maybe it's just to subtle to my ears .

Also , what am I missing about the audio rate scrape flutter ?
No matter the mode (past ,present ,fut) , the rate tops at 10Hz max

What DAW and plugin format?

I just tried the Windows Delay plugin in Live (VST2/VST3) and Pro Tools (AAX, natch), and the Age control does what it is supposed to in the LoFi mode: adds tons of scratchy, fuzzy MODULATION noise. This isn't an additive process. Instad of adding noise to the signal, it modulates the signal with noise, to simulate the "scrape flutter" of an abused tape.

Try running a sine wave through the LoFi mode, turn Age up to 100%, and listen to what it does to the sound. It shouldn't be subtle.

If this doesn't work for you...I dunno, try turning your computer on and off again? This update has been tested pretty extensively, and we wouldn't ship something on Windows or Mac where the star of the algorithm (the Age control in this case) isn't working.

LoFi mode sounds AMAZING!!! It may indeed be my new favourite! I've been in love with ValhallaDelay since first hearing it and I'm only loving it more as time goes on, especially with these new modes!

Thanks soo much for this! Lofi is fantastic! And the modulation in PitchDuck is incredible! Dont know if it is different to the modulation in the pitch algo but it sounded so to me. Really great. If Pat Metheny were looking for a replacement to his old chorus he wouldn't need to look further:-)

I find it hard to find words to explain how much I like this plug-in. Saying "fantastic" and "great" is an understatement. It's just so musical sounding, but perhaps more than anything else its very inspiring to use. And now with the LoFi it got even better. Wow.

Is there a technical reason why at 0 ms delay the signal is still delayed slightly, e.g. if you wanted to use one of the modes (especially LoFi ) there's a short amount of latency added even though the plugin reports none? It's no prob when using it as a regular delay but if using it to color the mix bus it'd be nice if it wasn't there since it won't be compensated by PDC.

It's already an excellent delay, and it would be one of the nicest lofi tape effects for just adding a bit of warble too.

The delay lines in ValhallaDelay work on blocks of samples, so the shortest delay possible is 2/3rds of a millisecond, which we round down to 0 msec. Add some modulation (or Age in the LoFi mode) and the delay time goes up by several milliseconds, depending on your modulation/Age depth.

Plus, there's a fair amount of nonlinear phase going on in the delay lines. So PDC really wouldn't be able to compensate for things in a predictable way.

The DRY path is zero latency, which is why the latency is reported as zero latency.

Warble = latency, and a very unpredictable latency as well. I put it on my mix bus at 100% wet all the time.

Fair point about the warble, never considered other tape/cassette lofi plugins probably do the same thing. And you're right, PDC would be useless since it's moving all over the place. Thanks for the explanation and the new LoFi mode. Guess I'll go toss it on my mix bus!

Wil there be a 32 bit version with the LoFi mode?

Or should I just migrate my 32bit Ableton 9 to 64bit and use something like J bridge to deal with my 32bit leftovers?

When clicking on the era tab( click and hold ) , a grayish square appears at the right of the era time mode .

Hello, new Valhalla Delay 1.8.2. crashed Reaper 6.18 and Reaper 5.978 too when i try open project where was formerly older version 1.5.2. When i put back 1.5.2. project was opened normally.

Which plugin format and OS? Might want to contact support and include that. Didn't have problems with Reaper here.
