Arturia releases 3 Compressors You'll Actually Use

Following the success of their debut software effects in 2018, modelling experts Arturia have launched a software bundle of iconic compressor recreations.

Bringing 3 rare, highly-prized studio hardware compressors into the digital domain using their exclusive TAE® modelling technology, Arturia are putting the awesome sound-shaping abilities of these industry legends to a whole new generation of producers.

Following the “You’ll Actually Use” ethos of their previous releases, the effects found within 3 Compressors You'll Actually Use are as direct as the title of the bundle: simple to use, powerful, timeless effects. Accurately modelled from the originals, each plugin offers its own unique flavor of compression and analog signal path, from subtle saturation to slammed, pumping grit and everything in between. Not only do these plugins sound fantastic, they’ve also been updated with subtle, optional modern touches like mid-side processed sidechaining and one-knob parallel compression to make great sounding audio easier than ever.

Arturia have used the same expertise and technology behind the much-loved, award-winning instruments of V Collection to let anyone add some legendary studio hardware compressors to their arsenal. Accurately and painstakingly modelled on classics from Gates, Universal Audio, and DBX, these legends of the 50s and 60s have been given the breath of life, ready to face the challenges of modern music production. Each compressor also features great sounding presets from skilled studio engineers, as well as useful sound design tips and level recommendations to get each compressor sounding its best in your tracks.

3 Compressors You'll Actually Use contains:

Comp TUBE-STA
A perfectly recreated version of the rare tube-powered Gates STA-Level broadcast compressor. A dream for warming up bass and vocals.

Comp FET-76
UREI’s fabled 1176 compressor, accurately modelled, and turbo-charged with new features. Famous for its fast attack, huge punch, and versatility.

Comp VCA-65
Our very own rendition of dbx’s classic DBX 165A, made famous for its treatment of drums, bass, and percussive sound sources.

Each compressor plugin also features a beautifully rendered, scalable GUI that both pays tribute to the original hardware, and presents the exciting new features in a respectful, subtle way.

3 Compressors You'll Actually Use Intro Offer

To celebrate the launch of 3 Compressors You'll Actually Use , the plugin bundles will be available at special introductory price.

Owners of Arturia V Collection, or any other Arturia software or hardware instruments are also encouraged to log in to their MyArturia accounts on the Arturia website to take advantage of exclusive crossgrade deals.

Street price $199/199€ - Intro offer from $99/99€.

Someone needs to do a shootout with a real DBX 165A. That's the one I'm interested in.

I like the GUI and the SC features a lot.

I just have to think if I'm really going to use them, since I bought the Preamp Collection and haven't used for a long time.

For the 76, that's a tough match. I'm currently using UADs 76s, Slate Blue and Overloud Gem76. All very good imo.

The STA Level and DBX could be good additions, since the first I only have a Nebula equivalent, and the other, well, Waves 160 always served well, but that's a different unit.

Very interesting! Arturia's skills, in terms of emulating analog hardware, are outstanding!

That's what I thought too, man!

But seriously, the preamps are good, it's just a tough competition on my plugin folder nowadays.

I'm interested in these tbh, I really enjoyed the demo clips on the site where you can turn processing on and off as they play. They sounds really nice to me, from those demos...

A lot of mojo , the real deal is the goodies ...fir exemple the 76 has a gain reduction limiter witch is exellent , i ve found it a litlle dark , low pass filter tweak , case close ....

Super versatyle , and for those tha want colors , you can t go wrong .... i m testing those on a 808 based beat and they all handle it without issues , rounding , smoothing , punching it if needed (dbx 165 or 76 in this case ) ...

Def something super usefull during production or on indevidual tracks , now for master and buses. they re so colorfull, that soleone have either to anticipate the ilpact or mix IN it .

For the price , i say it s low risk for sure ...try it guyz , all the demo are not level matched ...

For 76 homie , be sure to check the GEM 76 it's one of my fav , but be sure to hit it calibrated - 18 dbfs , cause they didn't implemented yet the digital ouput witch means as soon as you gonna increase the ouput too much , you will saturate .

I alwayz test on complex 808 based beat , the tale , the HH , the transients ect are all no joke to processors , so it's easy to spot wiknesses of so called emulation (the HW handle everything !!)

To put a Sta-Level on the plate is quite ... eh ... ambitous,
would be great to see some feedback from hw owners.

Jeezo, do we hear your epic aaaahhh on a respective video?

I've never seen a Gates emulation before and with the sidechain options on the 76 emu, those two ought to be worth the price. I'll have to check it out. Does anybody know if there is any further discount if you are an Arturia user/owner?

The extra panel shows how much Arturia knows that times have changed and engineers might need to tweak a few things when these easy-to-use tools don't fit the task. As it goes "its better to have it and not need it than need it and don't have it"

Well I just logged in and as an owner of the other "effects" my price was 49 USD so I couldn't refuse. So if you have any of their effects you might log in to see if you get any discount over the intro price.

Well, the preamps were good (my fav Neve) so I checked out the audio demos... All the compressed clips on the sneaky A/B player thingy are way louder.

Still, I'm looking forward to putting the 65 against the old Softube (still numero uno IMO) and also Waves, for sound and features.

65 is not a 160 VU , the 65 is way more powerfull and able to handle way more (i own all mentionned )

Looking forward to trying these out. the sta level is indeed VERY ambitious. Have been wanting someone to try this for ages, though i understand why they dont!

I just sold the preamps, due to getting a ton of fuse audio stuff and deciding i have too many plugs...but i do miss them a bit, so i may spring for the bundle and just sell my filter duplicates. they do offer really good prices to customers.
Also, i have to say, having sold quite a bit of my surplus software in recent weeks, Arturia has the best customer support of any company i have dealt with. Very straight forward. That alone makes me feel comfortable buying from them. Not to mention the fact that they have been on fire in the last couple of years.
