Sonimus releases Satson Channel Strip Plug-In

Satson Channel Strip is a powerful virtual rack which allows you to use up to eight Satson Series modules in one plugin. This is a great option for processing individual mix elements and sub-groups, as well as producing end-to-end mixes. These modules can be re-arranged via drag and drop, giving you control of the signal path in an intuitive way.

Key Features
▪ Allows for complex compression and EQ chains inside the same plugin.
▪ Up to 16x oversampling.
▪ Mono and Stereo operation.
▪ Optimized for low CPU usage.
▪ GUI scaling (80% up 150%).
▪ Zero latency (except for oversampling).

Modules

Each module has been carefully modeled using our Audio Quality Control Process. Sonimus Quality means we only release a product when it's virtually indistinguishable from high-end analog gear.

Preamp module: Allows for proper gain staging and gives color to the sound similar to an analog console preamp. By raising the input level, you can produce more aggressive saturation for creative effects. Features: Vintage and Modern Crosstalk, VU meter, FAT and Normal saturations, smooth low and high cuts, and trim/gain control.

EQ module: Four bands of musical tone-shaping and HP/LP Filters. Provides by two fully parametric bands and two shelving bands (with switch options for semi-parametric) allowing it to be used either musically or surgically.

Compressor module: Inspired by a classic bus compressor, also provides complementary parameters which provides, mix modern esthetics such as side-chain, high pass filter and Mix knob for parallel compression inside the same module. This module differs from the original equipment since it is also well-suited for mono tracks in addition to the stereo mix bus.

Supported platforms
Audio Unit, VST 2.4, VST 3, AAX. All platforms support both 32 and 64 bit operation.

Supported Operating systems
Mac OSX 10.7 or newer
Windows 7 or newer

Regular price: $ 149

Introductory price: $ 69 (Limited Time)

Here for the gear
Got this a while ago and am super happy with it. I'm a pure hobbyist and don't have a lot of time to make music. When I do, I want to focus on writing and arranging, so having a tool that's easy to use and great-sounding (to me at least) is awesome. I really hope Sonimus does well and releases a lot more stuff. Burnley, TuCo and Tilt are great as well, but this one's next-level in terms of usability/applicability.

Will it be Britson CS plugin or you will add Britson module to Satson CS?

How about API CS ?

Is the upgrade path available for StonEQ, Britson, and TuCo owners?

Can't wait to try this, Just downloaded. Only found out about sonimus recently. just purchased Tuco (insanely cool) and def going to grab this.
Its amazing to me that this thread isn't huge. Look at the waves CLA thread! Maybe some people just stick to what they know?

Either way, this is going to rock. Can't wait to grab the rest of the EQs too.

Thanks for the 16x oversmapling, super useful.

Giving this a quick go on a drum performance I tracked today and I'm REALLY impressed; any plans for adding additional modules like gate/expander and perhaps the channel compressor from the SSL strips? It's a different character than the bus comp as anyone that's worked on an SSL will be able to relate to.

Also, any plans to add parameter mapping to the Avid S3/S6? Right now, only the bypass appears (or is that a demo limitation?).

Britson Channel Strip is in analysis
API inspiration was also in our internal discussion.
Thanks for considering Sonimus an option.

Hi bleen, thanks for asking

You shouldn't think about Satson Chanel strip as a pure SSL channel strip because Satson Channel Strip is not a clone of any one console.

Although the modules are inspired by certain equipment, each has their own personality. Sonimus never tries to make exact replicas of existing hardware.

Our products have a unique sound and workflow because of this.

Our goal isn't to try and be everything to everyone. This means we may omit certain features from hardware that we don't think are absolutely neccessary. Above all else, we are targeting users who have a trained ear and are tired of using plugins that sound "like a plugin". We invest almost all our budget in developing the product to make sure it will sound as analog as possible and will sit well in a mix.

I am sure if you try demo version for Satson Channel Strip you can determine if the product will meet your needs.

Thanks

Well I was convinced by the sound after 30minutes of demo, so I bought the plugin.
My plugin was eating much more resources than my StonEQ at first, but disabling the overasmpling fixed it.

Really good job Sonimus, I think this will become my go-to plug in for my mixes.

Just one request, can you in the future update have the same A/B recall function that was on the StonEQ 4k ?

Thanks a lot !

However, what happened to the CPU consumption?
With StonEQ 4k, I could run 100 instances and the CPU was around 13 %, and now with 100 instances of only the EQ module on the CS, I get 40%??
I thought the EQ on the CS was supposed to be the same as StonEQ, so why is it using that much CPU ?
Is oversampling enabled? Check the menu.

Indeed, but by putting an SSL 4k-inspired EQ and "The World's Most Famous Bus Compressor™" from the same console in your plugin, you've pretty much determined that this is an SSL channel strip, albeit with your own spin.

I don't disagree, and why I already own everything else you make.

That's great; but a "channel strip" is a system - for me, a gate/expander is part of this system and having the added flexibility of where I want to place it within your rack would go a long way to adding value and flexibility to what already sounds great. The same with having a compressor that is more inspired by the channel comp of a 4k than the bus comp (fast attack, auto-gain, etc).

As I mentioned, I am demoing it (although having to dismiss the "TRIAL" message every time I open an instance of the plugin truly makes demoing a "trial"...).

So clearly this isn't product for you and you can pass it on while the rest of us will have ton of fun.

You should not worry (or split hairs like exactly what you are doing in this thread, playing with definitions etc. ) because there is ton of other plugins out there. I am sure you'll find something for you.

Something which is defined by exactly what is written. Good luck.

Let me guess second time. You are internet forum product specialist providing him your valuable opinion on how to improve his product. Right? Yeeeaahh i see this is a trend lately.

It's not rocket science. Developer tried to explain to you that they are not cloning existing devices but as can be seen from your response you keep getting at him trying to explain him what a product he developed - actually is - by your opinion.

Even after he explained his goal with this product you keep teaching him what for you - channel strip is. And somehow you think by buying his product you can act like this. Let me be clear your opinion is not unimportant even to me. I am just finding it very sad seeing people teaching developer what his newly released product - should be. By their standards.

Which is why i responded that this clearly isn't for you.

You know what. Just don't bother. Forget it.

FYI, the compressor is designed to work with both the stereo mix bus and individual tracks. This video good demonstration of this. Not sure how we compressor's vibe compares to the SSL channel comp though.

Just got around to trying it out finally. I own most of the Sonimus plugins so wasn't sure this would bring anything new. It definitely does. The compressor is one of my faves and I was able to do a quick kit mix with just CS. I can follow it with Neutron's parametric for trouble spots. But other than that it's fantastic. I used an instance on the drum bus as well as all the FX returns. The subtlety can stack up beautifully or you can really push it. The gain compensation on the volume fader is really well done too and I'm glad that's there for when you want to push in to the preamp more. The EQ feels more aggressive/useful than StonEQ and StonEQ is great - but whatever changes (if any) they did were in the right direction.

I'll definitely be buying. I do want to run a few more tests tonight though.

It's a bummer the Sonimus stuff doesn't get as much forum excitement as Waves.

Agreed. Easy to use, they sound great, reasonable prices, no subscriptions. More people should be using this stuff.
