TK Audio announces the new BC1-THD Bus Compressor

TK Audio proudly introduces a new version of its flagship bus compressor – the BC1THD. The BC1-THD replaces the BC1-S with a new striking black faceplate extra feature set and is a permanent addition to the TK Audio line up. Compared to the BC1-S, the THD model adds several user-requested features, including the new Grab setting. This adds a more obvious compression character in addition to the usual transparent mode that BC1 is famous for.

ADDED FEATURES

Grab
BC1 was designed to add glue to mixes in a transparent and musical manner, and owners of the Ltd version will still be able to achieve that. But in addition, the new Grab setting offers a more aggressive and apparent compression behavior. This may be desirable on the drum bus or for a more snappy sounding mix.

THD and filter options
The BC1-THD also has a THD switch, which adds a bit of crunch and tasty overdrive to the table. And in order to not have bass instruments having a too apparent impact on the mix, there are now three switchable high-pass filter options for the sidechain signal.

Attack time tweaks
Lastly, some new Attack time settings have been added, to make the unit useful in even more situations.

Yes but the anniversary model had a slightly different layout and they were also individually numbered by hand.

My dear slutz, I have question regarding to m/s feature.

I do have BC1 Ltd, but do not have Tk-lizer and never worked with m/s in analog domain. The question is, if I place TK-lizer in m/s mode before BC1, how BC1 reacts to m/s mode? Or is it better to go with TK-lizer in m/s mode after BC1?

Thanks

The M/S process is inside the TK-lizer 2, the signal is encoded before the EQ circuits and then decoded back to L/R again at the output.

Well, this explains everything. Thanks for clarifying this for me.

Btw, do you know if I can get Tk-lizer 2 LTD through Sweetwater?

Thanks again.

There is also a nifte feature with the HiPass filters in M/S mode... I guess you can explain it better than me

But as far as I can explain (without manual at hand), is that in M/S mode the HPF on the Mid channel is an overall HP filter... for the full stereo image (L+R)...

And the HP filter on the Side channel is used for "monoizing" the signal below the selected frequency...

Off to read the manual again

I now see them at just one location which I've never heard of. Where else? Google search just points to a few press releases and this post.

We have shipped them to our US distributor so I guess the dealers have not just updated their pages yet.
Just drop your dealer and email.

It's available at Digital Audio Service - they have almost everything. Just check if they have stock or order from the manufacturer.
