So I want to get the AXE I/O because I want to record a lot more electric guitar/bass related ideas and fill out some tracks, but I'm actually more of an acoustic guitarist. For a similar price range, am I better off getting a more standard interface like a Focusrite, or is the mic pre amp quality so similar I may as well go down this route? the bundling of Amplitube really appeals to me and I really want to get into software amps and stuff a lot more (very much a beginner with a lot of this) but I don't want to get it in the XLR inputs aren't worth having - I will still be recording vocals and acoustic guitars with it.

the only other interfaces I have used are the Motu 8 Pre (years and years ago) and the PreSonus AUDIOBOX and the AudioBox iTwo. so as long as it's as good if not better than that I'm happy. any advice would be greatly appreciated - all the video reviews I've found sound a little bit paid for and a little less honest, and none talk about the XLR inputs in any detail.

Sound quality spec wise, the Axe I/O is actually quite good. It's better than what you'd get from an interface like a Focusrite of a similar price range, whether it be with mics, line-in, or instrument-in. Output specs are better too.

Just keep in mind that although you get good quality, it's a limited 2-in/5-out interface with no ADAT option to expand for the future. If that fits your needs, it should be a great audio interface for any recording use.

Thanks for the advice - I was originally thinking of going for something like the Focusrite that has 4 inputs but realistically I just don't see when I would use more than two, the more I thought about it the more unnecessary it seemed for my needs. Think I'll be getting the Axe I/O. thanks!
