Aston Stealth – introducing the world’s most versatile microphone

Aston Microphones are proud to announce the launch of Stealth, a revolutionary broadcast quality microphone for studio and stage, with 4 switchable voices delivering unparalleled performance in almost any situation.

Stealth works in both passive and active modes. It is the world’s first microphone with an autodetect function which senses 48V phantom power and automatically switches the mic to active mode. This activates a built-in, high quality, Class A Mic Preamp which dispenses with the need for an external gain lifting device. Other unique features include a Sorbothane internal shock mount system and Aston’s legendary near-indestructible build quality.

Stealth was developed in partnership with more than 90 top engineers, producers and artists on the Aston 33 development panel who participated in a series of blind listening tests designed to create the best possible sound. The resulting four voice settings, Vocal 1, Vocal 2, Guitar and Dark, offer an unprecedented variety of world class sounds to suit almost every application.

Stealth is four professional mics in one, with so many cutting edge features, and suitable for almost every conceivable application, that, we believe, Stealth is the world’s most versatile microphone.

Aston Stealth features:

⦁ Broadcast quality cardioid microphone for studio and stage
⦁ 4 settings – 4 different voices – 4 discrete signal paths
⦁ Works with and without 48V phantom power
⦁ Autodetect function senses 48V and activates built in preamp
⦁ Class A mic preamp built in - no external gain lifting device required
⦁ Unique Sorbothane internal shock mount
⦁ Excellent off axis (side) rejection
⦁ Built-in purple LED phantom power indicator - switchable for stealth mode
⦁ Aston’s legendary build quality
⦁ Sound developed by 92 top engineers, producers and artists on the Aston 33 panel
⦁ Supplied with quick release stand mount

WOW! This is quite an innovative design. I'm eager to hear how this sounds. I was also eager to hear the price, as I figured it would be close to, or in the 1000 dollar range. So, I made a quick stop to Sweetwater and saw that it was just $399USD; not bad at all. That's a pretty affordable workhorse right there.

I'll be waiting for the reviews.

Good job Aston, I'm truly excited!

I don't find it ugly at all; I think it's beautiful.

Great concept and good value.

Amazing what passionate humans can accomplish; when they align their minds with their goals.

interesting concept, but samples sounds quite unimpressive, crazy amount of plosives and muffled

Appearance only it seems. Looks like a condenser capsule front mounted but says it’s a moving coil so dynamic (like SM)? They don’t really specify...

Looks like good competition for the Shute SM7 and SM57/58.

If this is in the sm7 ballpark then I’m interested. This could saciate my ‘less bright’ mic needs without handling over cash for an sm7 PLUS cloudlifter.

Ya I watched it again after my post. Should have edited. In any case it does look like a pretty sweet unit, I'll be watching reviews and sound tests. Seems pretty affordable too.

very very very interesting - I'm excited to hear a shootout vs RE20/SM7B with Cloudlifter, I'm doing more broadcast stuff these days and if it sounds even remotely close I would be really overjoyed to not have to carry around the extra box anymore.
