Cool update. I like the new rta much better and the gui seems more responsive too.

What are the differences between the precise/insane and + options?

Very grateful for this update! Love this firm, love their products. I'd go as far as saying that, plugin wise, buying TDR plugs was one of the best investments I've ever made. Thank you!

Did my favorite dynamic EQ get better? Will I now use this more than just on every single mix? AAAHHHHHHHHHH

So looking forward to testing this out.

And thank you TDR for having a no installer option.

Great update! Also appreciate the two different bandwidth behaviors (musical, surgical) which I didn't see mentioned in the release notes.

The smart operations workflows are really well thought-out and actually potentially useful.

I'd still love to be able to have per-band channel assignment rather than needing to use two instances for mid/side adjustments.

Thanks again for the generosity in keeping updates free.

best of the best...digital tools that are precise, non-colouring, and do what they need to amazingly well with clarity.
The price is just right.

Not too many people in the business that care this much about audio pathways and audio manipulation done properly.
No need for any additional tools for me (usually colouring exotic plugins) since upward compression and downward expansion are included....

Thank you very much!

Your loyal customer...

Bug 1:
LP filter. Select any non-6dB/oct slope at precise mode. Click Eco mode, it becomes 6dB/oct. Go back to Precise mode and it still shows 6dB/oct while actually it is non-6dB/oct as chosen before. Why it shows 6, if it is 72? What's wrong with quality modes?

Bug-typo 2:
Click Dynamic Help mode. Move mouse to right corner where resize button. It shows Resizte instead of Resize.

Low-pass is always 6 dB/Oct in Eco mode. To indicate this fact, slope control becomes grayed out. This behavior was from the 1st version and is not changed in the new version.

That's it. NO WAY I could buy it with this bug (*)

Bug #3 :
There is an absence of 2 pixels in top right gear's teeth. please fix that. otherwise it'll make me Insane+ (ie. saturated insane. ie. heavily violently drunk).

* oops, already bought. very generous of you giving us the upgrade for free !

Баг заключается в том , что при переключении обратно в Пресайз режим, выбирается опять та же крутизна фильтра, которая была изначально выбрана, но показывает почему-то 6дБ/окт.

For all, in English.

Reproduce the bug:
Choose 72dB/oct in Precise. Switch to Eco, now it is 6dB/oct. Switch back to Precise, now it is actually 72dB/oct again, but still shows 6dB/oct.

Odd harmonics with other non-linearities between them added, as I see on sine with voxengo span.
But they changed mode naming.
Precise on Nova 1 is same as Precise+ on Nova 2
Precise- on Nova 1 is same as Precise on Nova 2

Same with Insane modes

As I see, TDR didn't mention 64 bit DSP engine introduced in Nova 2, because I see Nova 1 does noise at -180dB and Nova 2 doesn't. Same with Kotelnikov 1.5 vs 1.5.1

Yes, we obviously forgot several details in the change-log. Just too many changes!

Important note: A few PT/AAX users informed us about an automation recall compatibility issue, which sadly turns out to be quite tricky for us to solve. If you are attempting to recall automation heavy PT projects (automating older versions of nova), expect some problems. In doubt, get in touch with support.

VST and AU don't have this problem, though.

Please redownload and latest installer (yes, same version) and run it again. It should fix this issue.

for starters, make sure to read the following sections:

Smart Operations
https://www.tokyodawn.net/labs/NovaG...al.pdf#page=20

Musical/Surgical curve modes
https://www.tokyodawn.net/labs/NovaG...al.pdf#page=32

Last but not least, spend a minute realizing what the little "Above/Below threshold" button unleashes!
Previously, Nova GE had been able of downward compression and upward expansion. Now it can also cover true upward compression, and downward expansion/gating.

A slightly hidden is the SmartOps feature "Reference by Instance" allowing to quickly reference the spectrum of a different NOVA GE instance, and match against it to taste, positively or negatively. E.g. great for "HOW tO mAke rOom fOR kIkc" type of moods

Interestingly, we didn't plan for all these new features. It's only after implementing downward expansion and infinite ratios that we realized that Nova's specific curve behavior was somewhat unfavorable for gating or applications demanding dynamic bands with very narrow Q. So we developed the surgical mode.

The development and evaluation of the new Smart Ops also turned out to be a much greater effort that it looks. Lacking any good role-model for it, we had to pioneer the whole UI workflow and technology, evaluate, fine tune, throw to trash, restart again piece by piece, over a long period of time. The Smart Ops approach is still a rough diamond likely subject to many updates and enhancements over the next years. Smart Ops will also roll out to SlickEQ GE and SlickEQ M.
