Acon Digital Equalize 2 with new Filter Types Released

Acon Digital has released version 2.0 of Equalize. The new version of this versatile parametric equalizer plug-in includes two new filter types β€” tilt and bandpass. It now offers a total of eight different filters. Just like the previously available filters, both the tilt and bandpass filters offer the unique continuously adjustable filter slopes in the range 3 to 120 dB per octave.

The new tilt filter in action.

The visible frequency range of the equalizer curve can now be altered conveniently by dragging the edges of the frequency axis or moved by clicking and dragging the center. This makes it possible to zoom in on specific frequency ranges for more precise control. A new preferences page offers user settings such as analyzer resolution and user interface language. Another new feature is the optional piano keyboard display above the frequency axis. Band frequencies can easily be set to match a tone's frequency by clicking the key on the piano keyboard.

New Features at a Glance
  • Two new filter types β€” tilt and bandpass filters
  • Adjustable frequency range in the equalizer curve editor
  • Optional piano keyboard display
  • EUCON and full Pro Tools HW controller support
  • New preferences page with spectrum analyzer, tooltip, language and piano roll settings.

Equalize 2 is available for $99.90 USD as of today from the Acon Digital Store. Equalize 1.x customers are entitled to a free upgrade.

spectrum freeze and dynamic functions would make it a killer.
nevertheless Equalize is among the best already

Thanks -- good suggestions! Spectrum freeze would actually be very easy to implement. I assume that would be temporarily setting the analyzer drop rate to 0 dB/s with a toggle accessible from the main UI? A dynamic EQ would be very nice indeed and we've received many requests for this. It's tricky to combine with the flexibility of the filters and the different phase modes. However, this is something we are considering either in Equalize or a separate product...

Stian

Awesome!
Spectrum freeze I mean like Fabfilter eq or AirEQ premium
if it's easy to implement, you should do it, gonna be a big plus!

Thank you VERY much.
It's rare these days that the users get a 1. to 2. Update for free.

This is a great and versatile eq

Update is nice thanks Acon. Only problem i have is the arrow icon for zoom is a complete nightmare. It flashes on and off that fast you don't get a chance to click to zoom in and the area is so small to make it show up as well. Other than that its great.

Thanks! Strange, we didn't receive any reports on that during the beta testing, nor can I reproduce it here. Which host and OS are you on? You mean the cursor icon, right?

Hi, It has the same behaivor in Studio one and Cubase latest versions. On windows 10 system here.

The only place the zoom icon apears is a tiny area to right of click to modify maximum and minimum gain and to the left of click to modify minimum spectral level. There is a tiny line on the inside of each button. IT basicly only lets me use zoom if my mouse is exactly on the line. It flashes on and off till its perfectly in the correct place. Also get a small hand icon that pops up now and again.

Hope this helps.

ps. Added a small pic of the only place this icon is showing up.

Love the update.
Strange I just rediscovered Equalize yesterday and was relearning it.

Couple of things:
Can you get the whole spectrum on the screen at once say 10 to 20000?
I get a red band up to 40k could we get a red band at the other side down to say 0 or 10?
The CPU when dragging any node jumps up to 10% on my computer. It does settle back down, just didn’t do that before.
Top of the piano roll looks a bit blurry to me but my eyes are going!

All in all very happy.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that you like the update! I'm not sure I understood your first questions correctly, but you can double click the frequency axis to revert to the default frequency range (20 to the Nyquist frequency). Due to the nature of logarithmic scales, I'm afraid that it's not possible to extend the range downwards to 0 Hz since the distance to 0 Hz would be infinite. I'm not really sure what causes the CPU to jump when changing parameters. The filter update is handled in a separate thread as in version 1. I'll check that! Which host are you measuring it with (and OS please)?

Best,
Stian

Id love to suggest some features that i wish it had;

Solo and bypass multiple bands
Eq scale(0%-150%)

Cheers!

Unfortunately, the solo mode didn't work as intended in version 2.0.1 when multiple bands were active. We've just released v2.0.2 which solves that along with a minor problem when scaling multiple bands. Here are the new download links:Change Log
  • Fixed: Solo mode doesn't work when several bands are active
  • Fixed: Scaling with multiple bands selected sometimes lost the frequency and gain relationship between the bands.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

Stian

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to think about multiple soloed / bypassed bands -- it might turn out a bit confusing as well. EQ scaling is already possible by selecting all bands (click the background of the equalizer curve editor and keep the mouse button pressed -- the creates a selection rectangle so that you can easily select all bands) and moving one of the bands (the others will follow with the same relative gain).

Best,
Stian

We just uploaded Equalize 2.0.3 that fixes a bug that sometimes caused existing bands to be modified when adding new bands:
Change Log
  • Added: Solo mode when clicking and dragging with right mouse button
  • Fixed: Adding new bands with double click sometimes influence existing bands

Best,
Stian
