TRAVELER Doppler-Modelling Plugin with Path Editor

Hey guys!

TONSTURM | Traveler is a revolutionary, high-spec processor that recreates the Doppler Effect and there is a lot more to it:

AVAILABLE HERE:
TRAVELER | Doppler-Modelling Plugin with Path Editor from TONSTURM

$179,00 US introductory price until 01/Aug/2018 ($229 thereafter).

ABOUT:
Using Traveler’s graphical path editor, you can determine a sound’s virtual movement, and with Duration, Length and Speed parameters, you can customize exactly how it moves in seconds, frames, miles, meters, beats and more units of measurement. But that’s just the start!

As well as live processing, Traveler also has a fully-functioning granular sampler, letting you change the Pitch, Size, Density, Pan, Position and Jitter of sample playback.
On the right-hand side, you’ll find physical propagation parameters (Air absorption, Attenuation, Doppler Pitch, Damping…) and five full effects (Tremolo, Delay, Distortion, EQ and Compression). As if that wasn’t enough control over the sonic soundscape, Traveler also has four custom shapeable LFOs to assign to the sampler and effects controls too.
REQUIREMENTS AND SPECS:
  • MAC OS X (64-bit only): VST, AU, AAX
  • WINDOWS version available soon.
FEATURES:
  • Graphical Path Editor for very detailed editing of virtual movement
  • Set Duration, Length and Speed in seconds, frames, bars and beats, meters, miles per hour and more (metric and imperial measurements available)
  • 76 Samples and 85 Movement Presets for common tasks and starting points
  • Link two of the Speed, Length and Duration controls to change while the third remains locked
  • Sampler allows for one-shot, looping or granular playback
  • Advanced sampling controls include pitchshifting, panning, positioning and jitter
  • Model physical propagation parameters such as air absorption, stereo width and path curvature
  • Tremolo, Delay, Distortion, EQ and Compression effects
  • Normalization and Master Volume controls finish off the sound-design experience
  • Drag and drop your sounds or record them in live through your DAW
  • Enhanced Pro Tools Audio Suite functionality

Just downloaded the demo. Man, this is something else. Your doppler algo maybe is the best I've ever heard. Just discovering, but I already have a lot of fun traveling
I´d wish for more tutorials though...

Thanks, Cracki!

I can say that we are very happy with the sound of the doppler engine. It was a lot of work, testing and modeling involved. More tutorials will follow soon!

The algorithm for this may be the best I've heard, but it's not so simple to use for practical sound design. No pop-up help means you have to RTFM to know what's what in the GUI (and no shortcut in the gui to open the manual). There's no way, that I have found, to anchor a pass-by position in time. Seems like you can only trigger via MIDI or have the doppler apex occur X seconds after playback starts. It seems like more of a creative tool for interesting effects (although a very cool one) than for creating real-world pass-bys for film etc. Also, it's stereo only. No surround.

This company makes my fav whoosh engine: Whoosh™. Whoosh's last update dramatically improved the instrument, so maybe Traveler will evolve too. Again, Traveler's algorithm is super duper. I'm seriously considering buying it despite it's imperfections.

...looking forward to the tutorials. Maybe I'm missing something.

Hey dix,
thanks a lot for your feedback and critics! This is very valuable to us. Just in case this got overlooked we have a first tutorial here:

"There's no way, that I have found, to anchor a pass-by position in time. Seems like you can only trigger via MIDI or have the doppler apex occur X seconds after playback starts."

Yes that is correct. We are working on that anchor feature or something like it. Not trivial with a freely shapable path. But you can precisly edit and sync the overall duration of the doppler path as seen in the tutorial above and freely position the listener (pass by position)

"Also, it's stereo only. No surround."
Currently yes.

"It seems like more of a creative tool for interesting effects (although a very cool one) than for creating real-world pass-bys for film etc."
If you just pick the "basic left to right" path shape from the Shapes presets you have all you need for a real world pass by effect. Also see the tutorial above.

But I did put all your points in our suggestions doc and we will take them into account for upcoming updates for sure.

A set of shorter tutorials is in the works.

Thanks!
