Bought the bundle today... sound really nice...

Both def have a very "outboard" vibe and headroom. Great job

I saw ACME Opticom is going on sale this friday. I wonder if I need it after getting these two. Anybody have any thoughts?

Yeah, I saw the same thing. Most likely I'll get it cause I'm a slut like that but, after BRA touches something, it's a wrap.
I don't feel the need to have another LA2A and/or LA3A or a Pultec M-EQ5 etc.

I did mention to Andre that I hope they keep it consistent with the output saturation/electronic side of things with all plugins they model.
As all Vintage units have a sound that's either a Transformer/Transistor/Tube etc is adding to that unit's sound.
Looks like they did not do it with the VHL-3C and though it still sounds amazing, I do hope they update it with those limitations and still keep the version that doesn't have it so you have a choice to make it dirty or keep it clean.

I'm loving their plugins and feel honored to be an beta tester.
These guys are really pushing sound for plugins forward, at least I think so and they do listen and do fix issues extremely quick which is unheard of now a days.

Great start for a new company in a new year.
They are making us all look and sound great.

JusMyThoughts,

Marc

I do think that they should run signal through each new plug as well as through the gear being modeled...

Gobs of headroom... Nice

I think I'll play around with tracking through the plugs slapped across my daw's input just like I'd do with my outboard comps

Reimund (one of the BRA guys) has also been working on Opticom while he was still at PA

I like the Opticom quite a lot. I rarely go past 1dB GR with it and just use it for the final touch on busses or the mixbuss when it needs that character it has. It's definitely one of the most interesting compressors I've heard.

Thx for the input

On the rooster stuff... Still really impressed. Sounds more or less like outboard to my ears

Yeah, just picked this up. (Opticom)
BRA is a beast.
Good to know that they were involved with this plugin.
Just bought it via iphone.
Can't wait to check it out when I get back to the studio.

Good times,

Marc

Whoa! I got this and the VLA-2A bundled some time ago and finally had a new project to give them a spin. I tracked a gypsy swing trio, live, they wanted bleed and room tone, so no gobos etc were used. We had one day and we recorded 12 songs in a good studio with great room and mics. To get the project running fast and smoothly, the initial sound check was pretty fast and due to the setup and client demands the upright bass sound was left a bit compromised, although the client was very happy with it.

So the mixing phase is starting out and I decided to try VLA-3A on the bass and just wow.. It was just perfect. I mix completely itb and I had some nice plug ins already, including some fine Nebula libraries, but this one was just perfect making the bass deep and nailed to its position when needed. Very realistic sounding tool! VLA-2A made it to the guitars Very cool sound in that one too!

Are you using v2.1.2 of the Plugin Pack?
Which version of Mac OS are you running?

Hmm, I downloaded it this weekend I think. But it could be 2.11.
Latest Logic, Sierra 10.12.3

UPDATE
Dowloaded the latest installer, but it's still a lot of black boxes.

Okay, can you please also give us details about your graphics chipset?
Thanks!

Tried with some other plugins. Magnetite and canary works fine, but the rest have the same glitch. Perhaps you can see a pattern somewhere?

The others (except VLA-3A) only get black boxes when buttons are moved etc.
VLA-3A has some from the start, and more shows up when turning knobs.

I guess you have the latest graphics drivers?

That sounds like a PC-question! :D

I only had Magnetite prior, so this is the first I see of this bug ever.
The issue is of course not present with other plugins, apps or programs.

I’ll check if it’s the same on my Macbook Pro later.
[edit] I can confirm that everything works on my MBP, same OS and Logic version. [/edit]

Just bought VLA-3A after 1 hour of testing. Beautiful sounding. Outlines a vocal with fatness!

Is it better than the IK white or Klanghelm?

Well, the IK White is modeling a 2A, so a bit of a different deal. And re: Klanghelm, do you mean MJUC, or DC8C? MJUC is Vari-Mu based, and I don't know what DC8C is. (Though i don't think it has a 3A model...)

Me too. I actually tried the new pre 73 from BLA and was so impressed with the fatness it brought that I thought the VLA-3A could do the same and viola there it was! Best LA type ITB opto comp I think I've tried.

With that screen name of yours, you and VLA-3A are the perfect match

It would be nice to have a company who focuses hard on the preamp/saturation side of things the most, because I think that's where plugins are lacking the most coming into 2018 across the board. One can dream that by this time next year or in a few more years there will be more and more advancements.

I imagine plugins will get so detailed in their approach that they'll have an on/off switch with a clock thats calculating the amount of time you've used the plugin, and after a few years it will start behaving differently just like analog equipment.

So many mix knob comments. In Reaper this is a non issue. Every plugin has a mix knob. Is Reaper really the only DAW to incorporate this? That is just unbelievable.
