Off the top of my head I don't think there is much difference.
SHP has a low CPU option in the settings (which introduces a bit of latency that is dealt with by any DAW with latency compensation).

Neither of them are like Acquas CPU wise, put it that way !

Tough, as I have both
I've had the LX480 for much longer that the VSR S24.
But, depending on what other reverbs you have, I think I would get VSR S24.

Having said that, you have to like the TC reverb sound !
As a long time former user of TC Classic Verb with a PCI Powercore years ago I was thrilled to have that TC sound again when VSR S24 was released.

Actually the Powercore Classic Verb was trying to emulate the classic Lexicon reverbs.
However you also had the MegaReverb to Powercore which used the CORE algorithm from Tc M5000.
VSR S24 is trying to emulate the VSS6 algorithms which was only for the System 6000. If I understand correctly the VSS4 found in Reverb4000 is closely related to the VSS6 algorithm.

Yeah I liked the MegaReverb too, used it a lot.
The ClassicVerb probably was inspired by lexicon but it still had a TC sound to my ears.

I'm talking about 10 years ago (or more) I stopped using the Powercore
So maybe my memory of the TC sound is a combo of MegaReverb and ClassicVerb.
At the time both were a great step up from Waves TruVerb which I used a lot until then.
All I know is, I like the sound of the VSR S24.
cheers

Relab offers a 2 week demo for both. Both of these plugs are stunning. I would say VSR though. It has this detail that is unmatched in reverb plugins.

I hope this was helpful.

Happy Holidays.
Can’t find the upgrade discount on the store. Or is it cancelled?

Thanks!

I may be wrong, but I doubt they will let you use 2 discounts at once.

It’s not about Black Friday discount. Probably because a lot of LX480 owners paid much higher before, they had the $59 discount (or something....) for LX480 owners when VSR480 was introduced. I contacted their support. Unfortunately the upgrade was terminated. Though I miss powercore VSS3 and M4000, I think I will buy the upgrade of Seven Heaven Reverb Pro which is only a bit higher than VSR 24 now.

I received a TC Electronic offer with VSS3 at 139$ ... Sorry but, VSR24 vs VSS3?

I have both also. 7H is "cleaner" . . . less modulation, but that also means less complexity in the tail. The Relabs are dense. Like the originals they are modeled after. There is a place for both. However, given only one reverb, I would pick Relab LX480.

Anybody else has been able to compare VSR to a real M4000 by TC and can comment on sound / usefulness etc. ?

Only with 6000. Indistinguishable.

Interesting. We had a 6K (but ended up keeping only the 960L for the long haul), and though I've not used one in years I have the impression that VSR gets awfully close. Just -how- close I wasn't sure.

LX480!

as an aside, Michael C from Exponential could really do with looking at VSR24 for an example of that 'flat modern GUI' done right (and sexily), I can't stand the eyesore Expo plugs.

Hi Relab,
would be super cool if we could get the presets list when clicking on the preset's name in the plugin window (in the meantime you release the update with the new neat browser..)
I'm exploring VSR S24 on projects through Logic Pro X and when using the Logic preset's browser (instead).. The lock function doesn't hold..
I'm really as many digging VSR S24, but i'm struggling a bit as i can't work as fast as i'd like..
Hopefully you'll do something in the close future.
Thank you

I Agree! Wonderful sounds and GUI, but the presets navigation is not good!

I bought this one. Wow. It's really nice. If only the preset browsing was better. UHE have done some good things with preset browsing of late. Can we get something like that?

Hi Relab, I just bought VSR S24 and was wondering if the included presets were transcribed from the TC Electronic System 6000?

Specifically I'm looking for Warm Cathedral and Rich Hall, or close variations.

Are these filed under a different name than what System 6000 uses?

Cheers!

Their promise and subsequent silence is concerning. I suspect that a competent coder could implement the preset browser in a day.
