Sound Radix Announces 32 Lives V2 for Mac with VST Plug-Ins Support

Hello everyone,

We are happy to announce the immediate availability of 32 LIVES V2 for Mac!

The new version brings Steinberg VST plug-ins support in addition to Audio Unit plug-ins and significantly increased stability. We've built a Sandbox for plug-ins: If one plug-in crashes, it won't bring the whole house down, your DAW will continue to run and you'll be able to save your work.

Here's what's new and improved:
  • All new VST plug-ins support
  • Sandboxed plug-ins: a crashing plug-in will not crash other plug-ins or host
  • Freshly redesigned and improved plug-ins manager application
  • iLok authorization (Disk authorization & iLok 1, 2, 3 are supported)
  • Improved compatibility with macOS 10.12 (Sierra)
  • Improved stability of plug-ins with Carbon UI
  • Installer: improved plug-in wrapping performance
  • Fixed display of non-Retina plug-ins on Retina displays
  • Bug fixes and performance optimizations

32 Lives V2 upgrade is free to all existing users! A trial version is available.

To upgrade, simply login to your User Area and enter the redeem code you see in the New License Activation box. A free iLok account and the iLok License Manager application are required for authorization. No additional purchase or an iLok USB key are required.

Happy Holidays!

Great news indeed! 32 Lives is a must-have for me, I can't use GSI plug-ins (like VB3) without it.

What a pleasant surprise! 32 Lives is an awesome utility, it keeps my PoweCore, Abbey Road TG plugins, alive and i'm grateful for this.
I installed the upgrade and i'm super excited! It works much much, better than the previous version. It loads
super fast, it scans very fast as well, the new GUI is bigger, cleaner and brighter! Very nice work!
Before i-Lok haters jump in, i want to say that, i prefer i-Lok authorisation every single day, than the previous on-line/off line option. It's great for us who move from one studio to another! Brilliant!

Also Sound Radix are very generous to give 3 Authorisations per license and free upgrade from V1. Thank you!!

Would be great if there was something like to allow the use of no longer supports Pro Tools plug-ins. Such as RTAS to AAX

A company tried that years ago and Avid shut them down. That action has left a bad taste in my mouth ever sense.

I think I remember that!

I love my 32Lives and it has been running perfectly on my 10.6.8 mac system.
I am wondering what this update would bring, apart from vst, that would justify upgrading?
I realise that my system is still supported and that it would be a free upgrade (thank you Nir!), but the move to ilok poses a problem because the latest ilok manager will not run on 10.6.8.
I guess the answer is to run the ilok manager on another more current system and update the key from there, but I don't have access to such at the moment, and I don't know if it would break compatibility with my setup.
Anyone else had this problem and found another solution?

Awesome gesture Soundradix concerning the free MAJOR update, thank you

Upgrade from existing account went flawlessly, and will install tomorrow (already transferred iLok license with ease) ;-)

Horrible new interface.

Doesn't work nicely for me... can't sort by stays anymore, nothing happens when I click the top bars to view list in different ways, looks bleached and nondescript..

I MUCH preferred the old GUI... hope it's only the looks I get problems with... I really paused before updating this but this company has been so rock solid that I trusted the update straight off which is unusual...

Still... long as it works as expected..

Almost all developers these days seem to be affected by the same disease... Non-contrastitis. Ugh!

EDIT: No offence to developers...

Hmm...looking at the screenshot from their site, I see what you mean. Seems like a simple thing to adjust with enough user feedback? Looks just like a standard 'Finder' GUI set to grey as highlight in preference.

At very least, a standard 'Blue' or 'Green would help for highlights. Haven't installed yet, are we sure there is no available preference for it? Maybe a simple preference file 'hack?? (again, because it looks like a standard GUI kit being used)

Hi guys,

Just a quick holler to let you know that we've posted an update to 32 Lives V2

Improvements in version 2.0.1:

  • Fixed some carbon based plug-ins not drawing correctly
  • Fixed plug-ins dialogs appearing behind manager during scan
  • Fixed manufacturer display in manager for some plug-ins
  • Fixed search box reliability
  • Fixed "Trial Version" appearing in full version manager in case of missing authorization
  • Removed dialog shown in case a user cancels a resurrection operation

Enjoy,

V2 definitely sounds better than V1. The highs are more defined.

So having opened it up now on my own machine (as opposed to referencing a screenshot), I am fine with 'look'. Utilitarian for sure, but appropriate for the task. And 'highlight' does follow 'System Preference' color for Finder as I initially suspected.

Opening up full screen on my Cinema display gives me the maximum amount of information 'per page', very readable and again appropriate to the task...which in my case is scanning through THOUSANDS of candidates ;-)

So I officially 'retract' any initial critique of GUI

Were you trying to quote me, rather than [email protected]?

If so, yes, it was a joke. Of course. V1 sounds better.

Yeah, definitely an aliased saturated stepping in the QRSTUV range of the list in V2, also less stereo imaging around LMNOP to my eyes ;-)
