Same here. B mostly.
Regarding UAD being darker, it inherently is however, the eq has the highs rolled off on most patches and it can be tweaked of course.

I was just able to get the UAD & Valhalla in the same ballpark with low size & mode values on Valhalla. The latter having more of a clarity of depth to my ears. Very lush and nice.
The UAD having more of a grainy low mids complexity type of depth but still appealing.

I honestly see them as both having significant value and usefulness.

It's funny, because I think the UAD 140 was the second VST plugin reverb I bought that sounded decent (first was the 2016 Stereo Room when it was still released as a Princeton Digital plugin). Everything else was terrible back then. Then CSR came out (or did I have that before the UAD - God, who knows at this point), and that was ok. Over time, I really grew to dislike the shortcomings in the UAD Plate 140, in that it just never sounded like the plates I heard on classic albums. Then SKNote put out Verbtone, which suffers from a lot of problems (needs a ton of latency, crackles a bunch), but had THAT sound.

Finally, I've got a Plate reverb that sounds exactly like I've always wanted with no compromises or bugs. I really see this plugin as being something truly special. Great job Sean! You've truly outdone yourself.

Created a great sounding plate with it for some synth brasses. I don't think that would have been possible with another plugin.

I got to the demo....Its a good plugin. I am happy with th UAD 140 and dont really need this but I like it and will buy it..

One of the things i respect most though, is your business model.

Your plugins are always $50 which is way less hassle for you and IMO the customer. No sales, No specials or black friday hassles, just $50...So in essence the plugin is always on sale

Your fair pricing help keep other companies feet on the damn ground.

You show that great sound can be had without destroying a standard CPU.

Demos are easy, nice, problem free, just the way it should be IMO. No loud bursts of noise or having to create an account to try your stuff.

I only own one of your plugins (demod them all) and though i dont use FreQecho A LOT its still a useful and very cool freebie. Ubermod is one of my very most used plugins.

I just love the way you do it man. IMO the way it SHOULD be done. You and your stuff will always receive my recommendation, without doubt.

I've found good use out of this plugin on several projects in te last week: an Afro/funk brass band recorded over the weekend on snare and horns. Also on a singer/songwriter's album I'm working on. She is really picky about reverb on her vocal. I tried this in her vocal and she hasn't complained about the "crappy digital reverb" sound she has come to expect. I had been using a lexicon PCM92 on her stuff previously.
On another singer's mix yesterday, the vibe was "mysterious". I used several instances of the plate on a few differnt instruments and the mix is sounding really good.
I also proclaim"best $50 I've spent in a long time!"

I was looking for the warmest 60-70s Reverb to be used on vocals, Electric Guitars, Digital Synths and to extend the capabilities of reverbs with the amazing Valhalla ÜberMod. After demoing Valhalla Plate and a quick question to Sean, i've also tested it with ÜberMod: it's amazing what can be achieved and these two do work well together. If i could afford all Valhalla plugins i'd get them all, but i do believe i've found the perfect combo for my needs in Valhalla Plate + Valhalla ÜberMod.

I'm a big fan of Sean's work and completely agree with producer7 comment on Valhalla business model.

Well done ValhallaDsp, again !

When I am back in front of my own computer, I can come up with a few ÜberMod presets that would be useful in front of ValhallaPlate. You could use ÜberMod as a tempo-synced pre delay, as a chorus after ValhallaPlate, as a gated/inverse reverb in front of ValhallaPlate, stuff like that.

A blog post on this topic (which predates ValhallaPlate, but the same ideas apply):

I love and own all of the Valhalla plugins. I just tried the stuff involving Uber-Mod (from the website), and as a side-note, none of the presets from the website will actually write the changes to the plugin. I have made and loaded custom presets before, so I can't figure out how this is user error. Has the preset scheme changed since that old blog post? I can copy/paste the settings into the plugin, and save them, but none of the parameters change.

The preset format is the same for all the Valhalla plugins, but the formatting on the blog itself may have changed. It looks like the old Valhalla DSP blog at wordpress.com had a special plugin for displaying .xml format files, which we don't have running at the new website.

The presets should begin with a < tag, and end with a > tag. If you see any [sourcecode language="xml"] tags or [/source], don't copy those. These are the tags used on the old Wordpress site.

This is what I thought, and they look like they should work...But I just now noticed something...the plugin version number on the preset is 101, and my plugin is 102...would that make the difference? I will change the version number and find out.

Edit:
Weird, but no, that was not it. I can copy them, paste form clip-board, and settings don't change from whatever preset was last loaded.

The plug-in version doesn't matter but the site is displaying the quotation marks oddly.. in the following example the odd quotation marks around "1.01" both need to be changed for the preset to paste into Ubermod: ValhallaUberMod pluginVersion=”1.0.1″

Still fumbling around with the demo. I must say I really love Nebula's EMT140 by VNXT. Which setting would you recommend to get close to the 1 or 1.5-second-version of the VNXT? Because if it works well I could finally retire the CPU hog...

I've never heard the Nebula stuff.

A few general tips for matching ValhallaPlates to other plates:

- Start by using one of the first 4 reverb modes. Listen to the attack and basic tonality of the plate in question. If the reverb has a sharp attack, use Steel or Brass. If the reverb sounds softer, or seems to come from some place further away, use Chrome or Cobalt.

- The ValhallaPlate SIZE control can be used to dial in the beating patterns of the plate. If there are some audible beats in the modeled plate's decay, turn the SIZE closer to 0%. If the reverb sounds really smooth with no audible beats (and a good plate can sound really smooth), try having the SIZE closer to 100%.

- Ignore the displayed reverb time of the plate you are modeling. These times have very little relation to the actual decay time you hear. Dialing ValhallaPlate in by ear ends up being far more effective (unless you have a MATLAB script that calculates the RT60 in octave bands or something like that).

- For a realistic plate sound, make sure that the modulation depth in ValhallaPlate is set at 0%. Real plates have no modulation, and adding modulation might make the plate sound unnaturally smooth. Of course, if you want a smoother plate, go ahead and add a touch of modulation.

I opened up an old project where my main vocal reverb was the Lexicon Vintage Plate, after A/Bing between them I got very very close using the Cobalt mode. I also put a small ping pong delay before the reverb (about 10% wet) and that made it even closer to the vocal plate in the Lexicon.

Probably the best testimonial I can give for this reverb is after using it throughout an all-day tracking session. The client texts me today...nearly a week after the session.

"Bro, is there anyway that I can download a plug-in that has that reverb that you used? If not, do you know anyway that I can download something that would be close to it?"

This verb just kills. It is THAT sound.

I only tried the demo briefly and was able to dial in a sound very similar to Lexicon Vintage Plate. Seeing as it's only $50 and has received so many glowing comments here I will check it out in more depth and might end up getting it anyway. I've never seen a thread with so many favourable posts before. Kudos to Sean!
