RTAS and CPU usage with Waves on 001?

This computer thing is still full of mysteries for me. I've got a G4 466 w/512meg running Digi 001. I'm pondering getting the Waves Gold Native bundle to increase my plug-ins from what came with the 001.

I'm currently using a lot of analogue outboard gear, including a HD24 to record and lightpipe most everything into 001.

Just how CPU intensive is the Waves stuff? What are the "catches" with the plug-ins?

With the 001, I'm having to run RTAS. Would it benefit me any to switch to DP3 and TDM or is that possible?

waves seems to be the most efficient plugin system going thanks to the waveshell consept......i use both tdm and rtas plugs from waves...also on the 001 they work very well...and translate to the audiosuite versions well....i would find the settings i want in rtas and save them then open the setting up in audiosuite version the the plug and print a track with the effect..that way i never seemed to have a problem.....i still do that process with my hd system so i can move from you home to a studio without bothering about plugs.
