DDA Q2 vs Soundcraft Series Two (2001)
 
I need a large console for mixing only
for the eq , auxs and summing.

looking at 2
40 DDA Q2 $2000
used live,
or
2001 Soundcraft Series two
40 channel as well
used in a theater
I need head room .
please thoughts

any idea if the vca on the dda are can be bypassed...

I do belive the Q2 VCAs can be bypassed, used a Q2 live for years and loved it as a live board. But for recording I wouldn't really be drawn to either, maybe if they were modded but that's $150-200 per module times 50 ouch !
Find a nice studio desk!

Kris , I don't rknow the circuit but I think if you bypass the VCA you end up with a VCA log fader not a audio log so the fader curve is just strange! The VCA is a bit noisy and less headroom than my FMR ! I thought about a Q2 and almost grabbed one with the rare 8 stereo groups !
The ones I have seen lately have been beat up!
Be prepared for lots of matinance and there is no offical support anymore!
