$75 or less - Best Gadgets

With the holiday season in mind, any suggestions out there for $75 or less must have gadgets for the (home) studio? Obviously, the first thought would be a used sm57 - any other thoughts out there for gift giving purposes?

some time ago, i bought a pair of MSH mics from naiant studio for 50 bucks.... and they are pretty useful, sometimes i just plug them into the interface without cable or mic stand, to record my band or something like that... but i don't know if these mics are still in the market...

RTR 29th November 2009 07:36 PM

I have a naiant studio X-Q I rarely use it, but when I want to lay down a fast acoustic track it is perfect, I just don't care for omni's for close recording..but this mic does sound great!!

OceanMan 30th November 2009 01:38 AM

an eighth of...well, you know.

Karloff70 30th November 2009 01:41 AM

Shiiite...my mistake, people....I had a Dollar/Pound crisis of memory, which means the blondie can't win in this category.........now if it WOULD have said £75 there would have been no contest heh

The blondie is $90. Needs a category. Change the heading of the thread please gooof

Ca$h Marty 30th November 2009 01:42 AM

Is the blondie the only mic he makes?

Nope. Not sure he even does make it anymore. Check this:

I'd ask the man himself for any info......

Tuners, giving a second on cable testers and sound level meters, VOMs, strings, picks, wind screens (get the metal Stedman), plastic or wood recorders, bongos, crap mics for affect, drum heads, used cymbals, percussion stuff, mic stands/booms, etc.

The exact ones aren't there but naiant still makes mics and they are great.

-Multimeter (a must-have for diagnosing problems in the studio)
-Digital metronome
-Hand-held voice recorder (I have had so many song ideas that I was able to save because I had one of these on hand.)
-One of those build-it-yourself guitar pedals that includes all the parts would make a great gift.

Electrical Ground/Wiring Tester. Great to have when playing live at a new venue to make sure everything wired correctly. I've also brought mine when checking out potential apts and rehearsal studios.

Amazon.com: Ideal Outlet Tester, 3 Prong, Checks Ground Circuit: Home Improvement

You can get em cheaper btw so shop around, was just the 1st link that came up.

Another GREAT one! I used to have both the J-Station and the POD and the J-Station was always far more realistic than the POD. It just offers more clarity and none of the mush in the low-end.
