2.5 vs 3.5 HD for External "record-to" disk?
Hi, I often need to do some voiceover recording work while traveling. For portable situations in the past I've recorded to the same internal HD as that on which the application (Peak) resides, but their techs suggest that for stability I should record to an external firewire HD as my 'scratch disk' no matter what, and have the main app reside on its own separate volume/disk.

That said, a 7200/16mb cache 3.5 drive is recommended... I happen to have a fast 2.5" 7200/16 cache, bus powered portable external FW drive (OWC "on the go" model).

Is it likely that this would be fast enough/stable enough to use, vs having to lug along a bigger external HD?

Thanks for your help!

I think it'll be just fine... but don't take my word for it... since you already own it, it'll cost you nothing to run it through the test.... Try adding track after track of recording (More than you'll ever actually use) to see where the disk kind of tops out at
