Could you help me identify this gear (picture)?

Hi everyone!

Could you help me identify the gear we can see in the picture below? There are two Avalon of course but what else?

Many thanks :)

Under Avalons: Vintec 473 4 channel mic pre
Next rack, bottom to top: Digidesign 888, 2 * Apogee AD8000, Digidesign universal slave driver, A DBX frame with DBX 900 - series modules: 5 DBX 903 compressors and 4(?) 905 eq:s. On top of that, a 1u rack with 2 BDX 903's, Drawmer Front End One mx60

Hope this helps!

above avalon is an amek/neve 9098 pre

not sure what the DBX on the right rack is. looks like one of the old module frames 900 series. i could be way off the mark though.

It's a part of a much bigger whole. And old stuff, as far as the converters / Digidesign hardware goes.

Where was the picture taken? And when?

Anaon 15th November 2009 06:18 PM

I'm not surprised it's old stuff because the own said that he doesn't really update his gear :)

It's taken from a making of dvd of Transatlantic (about the last album recording, 2009), a progressive rock band featuring Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Pete Trewavas (Marillion) and Roine Stolt (Flower Kings). It's Neal Morse's gear.

At the beginning, his home studio was really modest but it was really interesting to see how it evolved through making of dvds...

Yeah. What he said. I'd hang around that place and turn knobs and toggle switches, sing, jam, etc...
