RoundBadge 10th November 2009 11:49 AM

Joel.. sounds great!
what a cool sounding record.
any M-pressor action in there?
my favorite drum room comp ever!

88fingerz 10th November 2009 03:04 PM

Sounds like the old Korg M1/T3 drums patches have been reborn via BBE soinc maximizer!

Really this pathetic ' OH don't smoke or eat garlic food near the 47 or you know.....'

The equipment is there to be a good servant,a tool..Hell i love great gear but there is nothing wrong with a bit of smoke or ....... .. Like Fletcher says..

Just got a bit irritated about some other dudes going on and on about the risk of using km84s on snares in case they get a whack....!

All these classified adds Mackie mixer never smoked a smoke near it ......

Soooo boring and precious!... what about getting the music down or keep your mics in a cabinet for show???

Shane Michael Rose 10th November 2009 08:48 PM

if that is the mpressor on room, i want one so bad. that sounds really cool. small room too.

well I'll be miking toms w/ 67's this week.. guess I'm less of a p*ssy in your book..lol
but I say go ahead punk rockers, light up a cig, fire up the bong and park your 40 oz on the console.i'll just bill you for the 2 hours it takes to get all the crap outta the faders
personally i've got no issues w/cig,weed smoke, booze ..ok in certain areas for sure.
it does bug me when the odd dooche[usually a non essential in the entourage] comes in and disrespects my **** that i paid lot lot of dough for..and the upkeep.IE: a lit cig on a rare Radio King Bass drum.gruudge

I didn't get on great when I originally checked out the Mpressor but I'm thinking about picking one up now.
Really the best thing since sliced cheese? Does it do stuff you can't get any other way?

yes.
its not an instant simple mojo box like Neve 2254's, but w/ all its controls /features it can mold & shape lock/down drums/ transients like nothing else I've heard.
on room mics..yikes.
also the same old software vs real thing story: plug sounds good[$500] but not as good as the hardware[$4500]

Sliced cheese is worthless on drums. Just gets the heads all gooey.

Thanks RoundBadge,

I have been putting the plug through its paces on room mics and you're right the mojo takes some work but it really is a unique tool. Did amazing things to an already acceptable room sound. I thought my gear purchasing was over for a while but oh no.
I plan on getting the hardware version in the next couple of weeks.

Hey Joelhowdy

Love the Lettuce record by the way.

Come back and visit us sometime.

JoelHamilton 18th November 2009 01:43 AM

There is for sure some Mpressor action on the drums. Just using one side of it as a mono sum in parallel.
A few other comps in parallel and almost nothing inserted at the channels themselves except a 33609 on the kick and probably a distressor on the snare.
thanks for the kind words.

JoelHamilton 18th November 2009 01:45 AM

Oh,
and most of the 47's I love lived through an era where people smoked in the studio.
I will get the ****ing things cleaned if need be, but yeah: it works really well still even around some weed smoke.
I dont smoke anything, so I was glad that it was near the mic and not me.

Anselmo 18th November 2009 02:04 AM

Does your studio have a website where we can check it out better Joel...?
