Do you mean Duet?

Magic Genie 8th April 2009 01:25 AM

I sure would love to see some pics.

Putting together such a system now.

Dirty Halo 8th April 2009 02:28 AM

I can't take a photo right now.

I will tell you that it is a wortwhile road investment. Truly.

My road set up is:

MacBook Pro (2.8, 4 G RAM)
Duet
SSL Duende or Powercore Compact
SSL Mynx
A Radial JDI DI box for the Jensen transformer character (used for acoustic guitar and Taylor T5)
M-Audio Axiom

At one time I have the following active and working well:
Duet, Mynx (of course, analogue), Duende, M Audio Axiom (with power supply, not USB power).

Had to get a hub for the iLok and Syncrosoft dongles.

Use both Cubase 4 or 5 and Logic 802. I find Logic Pro easier to work with on the road. (Just a mental thing).

Duet and MacBook -- excellent investment.

A worthy, portable road solution. Only problem is stress moving it around.

One more thing...if you just do the MacBook and Duet, you're still in excellent shape. I only wish two Duets could operate on the same system at the same time!

Don't get me wrong, if I had known, that second mackie would have been an apogee ad16x.. but there's nothing wrong with the mackie! (i know many of you think differently though).. next time :)

I picked up a new MBP and duet last december for a job
opened everything up and sat puzzled by how to plug the firewire 400 cable that came with the duet into the 800 port
no one i could find (including the apple store) stocked a 400 to 800 cable at the time
so had to revert back to a older macbook set up
that was the end of my MBP/duet field recording
i know Tony--> has 2 duets hooked up to his and they work fine
gruudge

Lee Cardan 8th April 2009 01:56 PM

you should be able to get that cable at any computer shop.
The mackie needed a 6 pin (FW 400) to a 9 pin (FW 800 - MBP) cable, found one no worries

Does he have both of them running at one time?

calibayj 8th April 2009 07:48 PM

I'm thinking of demoing a duet this weekend-

Anyone rocking the "Breakout Box"? I love the idea of hooking up such a sleek piece of gear to burly little box.

No Duet either. Firebox is backup I pack for our location stuff. Used here because our Ensemble was acting up. This is from last year and I now use a FF400 because it's ROCK solid, and never gives us grief. Not pictured, Genelec 8020's.

rlsoundsystem 9th April 2009 06:27 AM

Breakout box is awesome, so much better than the mess of cords.

this is about 2 years old, I don't live there anymore. Some things were replaced and some other were added but the MBP is this the same.
