Best mobo for music computer using AMD X2?

I wanna upgrade to an AMD 4800+ X2, but am unsure as to which mobo to use. The MSI K8n NEo4 Platinum has been getting good reviews, but it may be overkill in the graphics dept.

Which mobo will give the the fastest, low latency performance witha minimum of 4 PCI slots, using the X2 chip?

I don't think there is such a thing as 4 PCI slots anymore for the new designs.

You have to go for a Magma chassis.

The Tyon motherboards come highly recommended for DAW's. I think I will buy one for my next system. With 2x Opterons.

Scott from ADK and others on have spent a lot of time testing the X2's and the Asus A8V appears to be the best board for the X2 for DAW's. Here are some links that might help.

what ever you buy, do NOT buy Nforce 4. horrible for audio. or Via KT890
in otherwords NO PCIE

you want an Nforce 3 motherboard or Via KT800.

most manufacturers have promised updated bios for the motherboards to allow for X2.

right now the only one i know that works is the Asus A8v Deluxe
not nessesarily my fav choice.

None of the nforce3 boards currently have bios updates for X2 according to Anandtech.

Check out this article on compatibility of motherboards with X2.
