Does Anybody Use The Slate VRS8?

I don't see much talk about he Slate VRS8 around here. I've been just using my Helix Rack as an audio interface but Line 6's drivers kind of suck but it works. The last interface I had was a RME UFX+ which was obviously rock solid but was overkill for my needs. Even the Slate would be overkill but it is about half the price of what I sold my UFX+ for.

Looks like the VRS8 can be had for around $1000 USD in the used market which seems to be pretty reasonable for what you get. Of course if the Windows drivers suck then the unit is pretty much useless.

I have a Thunderbolt 3 port but it doesn't seem like the VRS8 runs on Thunderbolt for Windows for some reason.

Does anybody have any first hand in use experience with the VRS8 that works within Windows?

I built a hackintosh that also had a windows boot side. I had a good setup with Cubase 10 in windows using the VRS8 with the HDMI/PCI card but didn’t have thunderbolt on that machine. I liked it a lot. Very low latency as promised and tracking with the slate mics through their channel strips fun/inspiring. Really powerful in combination with the Slate mics.

I’ve had this interface sitting unused for a handful of months. Ironically, your post drove me to finally list it for sale since I don’t have a computer setup in my main room that really utlizes it. If my main room had a true Mac (with working thunderbolt) I’d use the hell out of it. If I could get on with Windows I’d use it with the PCI more but Windows is not my thing (I’m a Logic guy, despite trying to move to Cubase). As it is, I’m in a no-man’s land with a hackintosh (mac software) with no working thunderbolt.

Still a fan of the device under the right circumstances. I hope you get a chance to work with one in your own setup.

Thanks for the replies. I noticed it didn't pop up in the low latency thread up top. I wonder what kind of performance you get under heavy plug in loads.
