Vera Lynn

I can't believe no one has posted about the death of one of the most important singers of the 20th century, Vera Lynn.

Vera Lynn

The songs she sang gave so much hope to so many people during W.W. II.

As my dad was in the R.C.A.F. during the war, and my mom a contemporary, when we were younger her songs were often played in our house. My parents went to see her when she came to town (1980s?) and it was packed.

She saved the souls of a generation. RIP.

We'll meet again.

Absolutely. Vera Lynn was one of our national heroes - she made it to 103, and inspired so many along the way.
RIP Vera, we’ll meet again, for sure.

I've only ever heard of her because of the song "Vera" on Pink Floyd's "The Wall". She must have been very highly regarded. RIP.

+1

I was listening to her sing from when she was in her hey-day and I thought "that" voice is so iconic.

Sinatra, Rob Plant, Michael Jackson, Vera Lynn - they all fit in the same sentence not only because within their field they're truly great vocalist but because they truly reach the status of having iconic voices.

Amazing person too.

Another legend lost, but thankfully she had a very long and well lived life.

My grandfather would sing "We'll Meet Again" when I was very young and play a bunch of her 78's. I know the voice well.

Ahh yes, Pink Floyd mentions her in one of the lyrics on the Wall album. Wow, this is really some sad news :(

RIP Vera Lynn
