Hey all, running into a new problem and was curious if you had any advice.

The record I'm working on is intended to be released on vinyl/cassette and has a very solid 21 minute per side program. All songs flow fairly seamless and it works great for extended formats but I'm not sure what to do with the digital release that has 4-5 "tracks" per side. Some software plays the files seamlessly and it sounds great, some add a short stutter and it sounds jarring.

Is there an industry standard on fades for individual tracks vs full length programs that might take away from the intended experience when using software that plays seamless, but isn't' quite as abrupt when using software or streaming services that hiccup between tracks.

There's no standards that I'm aware of and there's no guarantees about smooth playback of continous audio because of the variations in playback devices and software. There are some things you can do to give your album a fighting chance. These might be helpful:
