Advice for primary school PA system

Hi everyone,

Just some advice to say whether a PA system that I have put together will be suitable. It is for a primary school hall (40m long);

Mostly, it will be for spoken word and music played from a laptop. There may be times when films are shown. It will never need to run at very loud volumes. Gone for a powered mixer as it will be cheaper to install, and will be more easily portable...

Here goes:
Yamaha EMX2 500w Powered Mixer
2x Behringer Eurolive VS1220 12" Passive Speakers (150w RMS @ 8 ohm)

As this is for a state school, I'm obviously on a budget. (well under a £1k as I need to get leads, mics etc. as well)
But equally, I don't want a system that is not suitable!

Many thanks in advance.

40mt... no way.
If you've already bought them, maybe it could help you to add 2 more Behringer speakers after 20mt.
You'd spend 200 euros more but it would help you a lot.

In a quiet space like an assembly hall? For kids? That system is fine ime. Id be shocked if you needed any more speakers.

150ft is half a football field. 40m is like 131 ft.
That is a BIG space. If you run with what you have get
the loudspeakers up HIGH to cover to the back of that room.
