Small live recording room
Hey! I am moving into a new house and there is a small room in the basement I want to turn into a live recording room for drums mainly. The dimensions are 11.5’ L x 9’ W x 9’ H. I know square rooms are bad and this technically isn’t square but what should I do?

I need to finish the walls so I can make corner angles and do half brick half drywall to get ambiance. Maybe keep the concrete floor or go with carpet. The options are really unlimited but I’m a drummer and will be recording drums primarily.

What’s your advice?

That's a small space. Nice that it's in a basement. Is this your only room for recording and listening? If so, I wouldn't spend too much time with treatment. Without more information, I'd probably totally deaden the room and add post reverb or delays. Mic up your drums in that room and record them... see how it sounds before doing any work that may prove fruitless.
