WWDC 2019 New Version of Logic Pro X Announced

In showing the new Mac Pro today, they demoed a new version of Logic Pro X. Did anyone find any other info on this regarding release date, features, etc.? I want to purchase it but don't know if I should wait for the official new release. For years the updates have been free but of course there is no telling whether or not that will be the case here.

Expensive but incredibly powered new Macs that can be major workhorses in the recording/post studio!

Blessings...

Did anyone notice Dave Earl ala sflogicninja from the old YouTube channel he used to run presenting the new version of Logic Pro X?

Can’t wait to see how many channels someone is going to come up with in the Gearslutz Multicore benchmark test thread, that Logic Pro session was absolutely nuts. rockout

Yep, David Earl the SF logic ninja and my former co trainer at Macprovideo.com! He’s come a long way, very cool to see him walk up that stage!

The US Apple site are already showing the specs of the new Logic version.

With the disappointing performance of Logic Pro on the 2018 Mini, sounds like this update will address them, as they mentioned performance improvements. Has anyone seen anything beyond what was said in the WWDC presentation?

When I go to the link, and press buy, it still shows 10.4.4 and the Overview and Plugins/Sounds tabs don't look different...Am I looking in the wrong place?

This is what it says in the link under the Mixer paragraph:

Mixer
Up to 1000 stereo audio channel strips
Up to 1000 software instrument channel strips
Up to 1000 auxiliary channel strips
Up to 256 busses
Up to 1000 external MIDI tracks

Clearly not the current logic.

The ligic oage has only been updated for some countries. I’m in denmark and get this.

Same here! Thought he looked familiar yesterday but didn't realise it was him, good job he has done.

I have no 1st hand knowledge, but I seriously doubt Apple is bout to change this policy.

What about that gave you the idea that there was a new version of LPX? Or did I miss something? Where in the keynote?

Never mind. Found it. Doesn't look different.

I don't think anyone said it looked different. The only new thing shown was the increase to 1000 audio tracks and 1000 software instruments. That was the only thing they showed because the main point of the demo was showing what it could do in the new hardware.

We'll have to wait to see what else is new

mamabuna 5th June 2019 06:51 PM

We are all Jon Snow in this, We know nothing

d.dot 5th June 2019 07:04 PM

I don't need 1000 tracks at this point in my career. (I hope to one day work on that level) I wonder if those specs are attainable only with the new Mac Pro hardware?

Probably.. Judging from all the responses to the old benchmark tests here, their current hardware can't hit anywhere near those numbers. But who's to say the coming MP will even be able to? Pretty sure a decent sized Kontakt instrument or the right Reaktor ensemble could put a stop to it long before you got close to 1000 tracks. ;) I bet I could do it with VCV Rack without even using it as a plugin easy heh.

d.dot 5th June 2019 09:54 PM

I remember watching a video a few years ago. It was either Junky XL or Hans Zimmer. Forgot which. Anyway, they were demonstrating their Cubase scoring template which contained something like 1200 tracks and auxes. The people at Steinberg were astonished because they didn’t even realize their software was capable of those numbers.

It does look a little flatter. It will be interesting to see what else they've done. It's been a while since 10.4.4. Thanks.

Hmmm... doesn't look flatter to me. It just looks like 10.4.4.

The Beatsmith 6th June 2019 12:15 PM

I routinely hit the 255 track limit on some projects, and so I look forward to this!

jonljacobi 6th June 2019 02:08 PM

Okay, maybe just the angle. I run Matthews themes so it’s been a while.

fastlanephil 10th June 2019 10:59 PM

The Logic Pro X shown at WWDC was probably a beta version of the next release.

fcasoria 11th June 2019 07:18 AM

like Protools.

the end of theming

jonljacobi 11th June 2019 07:09 PM

Do you have some sort of inside knowledge? Or was that just an ironic comment?

Reborn 11th June 2019 09:33 PM

I'm a Longtime Logic user but that Protools interface is Soo much more professional looking than the current Logic!

steveGS 11th June 2019 09:40 PM

...just curious...what does "professional looking" mean?.../s~

The Beatsmith 11th June 2019 10:25 PM

Some people are just never gonna be fulfilled if they aren't running Pro Tools like 'da pros'

Monotremata 12th June 2019 02:29 AM

I dont know, the track info section on the left aside, looks pretty damn similar to Logic and every other DAW to me heh.
