R.I.P. Peter Tork

Always my favorite member of the Monkeys. He and Mike Nesmith were performing musicians before they landed their roles on the TV show. A lot smarter in real life than the clown he portrayed, and was one of the loudest voices for establishing their musical independence and credibility, rather than being Don Kirshner's puppets.

Anyway, rest in peace, Peter. And thanks for all the laughs.

:deth:yingyang:deth: The Monkees hit the TV stage when I was 14. They stole the thunder from the Beatles, Stones, and other British Invasion bands for about a year or so. Then it was back to listening to the Who, Blues Magoo's, Animals, Doors and others rushing onto the music scene. RIP Peter. YouTube

I disagree that the Monkees stole the thunder from the Beatles and others but they had some good tunes and the TV show was tongue and cheek and therefore fun to watch. Batman was another fun show and they still hold up to this day.

It is sad when icons from the hey day pass away as it reminds those of us who grew up during that time that we are getting old and coming to the day of our own demise sooner than later.

Anyway, sorry that another person from my era is gone. Although I never owned any Monkees albums I enjoyed some of their tunes and the show so it is relevent to me.
