Won't be buying any gear until next year when I build the $10k analogue rack of doom . Right now it's looking like it will be all Stam Audio. The only thing that's missing is a Stam tube mic pre (hint hint). With DI please.

:)

shakermaker3 25th June 2018 10:26 PM

Or a stam summing mixer :D

FWIW they built a 2 channel summing mixer into the new 1073MPA. It has an output for both channels combined.

deuc647 25th June 2018 10:42 PM

Or if they could somehow build a REDD 47 pre or GT ViPreboing

we need 16! also, i love how they just dropped the most epic new product and within 15 posts I'm already asking for more haha :D

elambo 26th June 2018 01:15 AM

That's the most affordable hardware clone of the Fairchild that I've come across.

As an Anamod AM660 owner, I wonder how the Stam will compare. The AM660 fooled a frightening number of people in A/B tests. Though not applying to the topology of the Fairchild, instead opting for analog modeling, it is far less expensive. If the Stam gets us even close to a Fairchild I may consider selling the Anamod, though, to be honest, I don't hear much difference between it and a Fairchild either.

Drumhead57 26th June 2018 03:22 AM

I'm a UTA UnFairchild owner and I'm tempted.

deuc647 26th June 2018 03:48 AM

I wonder how close itll get. If its 80% is it worth it? If its 90% is it worth it?

andersmv 26th June 2018 04:27 AM

The real kicker here is that it looks the part as well. That alone is going to sell a lot of these.

b0se 26th June 2018 08:37 AM

Tempting.

Audio Child 26th June 2018 10:12 AM

Truth is i don't need another compressor but this would look glorious in my rack!
I don't mind the long winded wait either as it allows me to get my pennies together!

Ultimate Studio Cleavage!!!! abduction

Overdrive 26th June 2018 11:41 AM

OK tempting it is.
Reading through the announcement page I wonder about this line: "With the aid of premium transformer reproductions made by Brian Sowter in the UK and the use of four JJ 6386 and two 12AX7 tubes we have managed to make this unit virtually indistinguishable to the original. "

Was the StamChild tested against one of the handful of original units currently available to mankind, where, when, and how.

excuse me, but that's some borderline racist sh!t.

stay away from stam if you feel like you can't trust them, but please quit that other sh!t, you have no expirience with Stam.

Actually it’s not racist it’s classist. In spite of that his concern is not unfair. From what I have seen so far it looks like people have had decent enough experiences with Stam, though it is reasonable to have a healthy dose of skepticism with products from countries where literally no other products in this space come from and a company that demand deposits of products that you may not receive for up to a year. Stam has been establishing its reputation for a few years now, and others have been the guinea pigs, and now I feel comfortable enough to get in on a preorder.

Wiggy Neve Slut 26th June 2018 05:22 PM

They say October delivery so if it comes in December it’s my Xmas gift to myself! rockout

I’m not in a super rush but I know I definitely need one in my life.

The best way of validating the claims made is to hear some like for like comparisons of the original unit vs the Stam.
To be able to make such claims they must have access to an original :)

Joshua, how about a blind shootout?
