Microphones preference
 
Greetings, Mr. Pope!

Besides C800G, what are your go-to vocal microphones? Do you prefer vintage german tube ones over modern multivoiced FET condensers (think Lauten Audio Atlantis)?

What's your opinion on using ribbon mics for the vocals? Again, will you prefer some older models like RCA 44BX or modern "classic" like Royer R121/122?

Go to microphones: U87, 47 and 67 if its not a C800. I love a 251. In the studio when I'm writing, I use a SM7 because its a workhorse mic. I use 414's on instruments and it gives me immediate gratification when recording instruments in a writing setup.
On ribben mic for vocals-I generally haven't used them on vocals in the last 10 years. As a result I would't know. I use ribbons on horns and other things but not on vocals lately, so get back to me on that one.
