about flawed performances

Hi there! Really enjoying the stream. Love the relaxed attitude you have in the studio. Have one question: how do you cope with performances that don't really cut it? Do you edit or prefer to photograph the performance as it is?

Hi there. Re: judging performances...
I define "perfect" as getting the message from the source to the listener...
Sometimes I edit, and sometimes I ask for more performances. It depends on the music, and the player.
I don't need everything to be landing on a grid-
I need everything to have the right energy.
That energy doesn't live on the grid.
Everyone else's mistakes are "feel" but your own mistakes are mistakes....
I try not to guess the funhouse mirror of self perception and instead commit to the feeling of something.
Sometimes perfect is perfect. Sometimes what you are calling "flawed" is perfect.
